Brothers All: Spanish Freemasonry cheers Francis’ New Encyclical on Human Fraternity

This should come as absolutely no surprise: On Oct. 5, 2020, only one day after the release of “Pope” Francis’ latest encyclical letter, Fratelli Tutti, the Grand Orient Freemasons of Spain published a statement praising the “papal” document for its adoption and propagation of Freemasonic ideas, by which Francis necessarily also rejects the Catholic Church’s historic condemnations of the Lodge. The well-informed Spanish blog InfoVaticana broke the story the very same day.

The Grand Lodge’s communiqué can be accessed here. The pertinent portion states:

Three hundred years ago, the birth of Modern Freemasonry took place.

Condemned by St. Pius X, loved by Francis!

Dirty Dancing meets Fake News:
Vatican News spreads false claim Pope St. Pius X approved of the Tango

On May 29, 1954, Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto, Pope Pius X (r. 1903-1914), was canonized a saint by Pope Pius XII, who fixed his annual liturgical feast day on September 3.

Even in the Vatican II Sect, St. Pius X retains a feast day, although the false pope Paul VI moved it to August 21. Being the mauler of Modernists and thus the archenemy of the Vatican II religion, especially “Pope” Francis, St. Pius X is rarely talked about in the New Church.… READ MORE

Still Lost in Blunderland: Refuting Peter Kwasniewski’s Latest Specious Attack on Ultramontanism

(PART ONE)

by Francis del Sarto

Ultramontane (Lat., ultra, beyond; montes, mountains; beyond the Alps, viz., Italy, and particularly Rome as the home of the pope), name given to Catholics who agreed with the pope on matters of doctrine, discipline, and policy. It came into vogue after the Vatican Council. Cisalpine (this side of the Alps) was the name adopted by those who differed.–C.E., V, 125.” (The New Catholic Dictionary [1929], p. 979)

Memorial Service for a Glacier:
Swiss Novus Ordos Mourn Melting Ice

In Switzerland, Novus Ordo believers (incorrectly named “Catholics”) are getting ready to attend a memorial for a good friend: their beloved Pizol glacier in the canton of St. Gallen.

A report at the official news and media web site of the Swiss branch of the Vatican II religion explains:

There will be a memorial service on September 22 for the Pizol glacier. Participants are asked to come dressed in mourning. The event is organized by the Fastenopfer Catholic relief agency, among others.

The memorial will consist of three parts: …Eric Petrini, parochial counselor in Mels, will accompany the ceremony “from a spiritual angle”.

Christian Unity without Catholicism: Francis spews Ecumenical Bilge at General Audience

At his Wednesday audience of Jan. 20, 2021, the false pope in Rome, Jorge Bergoglio (“Pope Francis”), interrupted his current series of lectures on the subject of prayer and spoke about Christian unity.

This he did because every year from Jan. 18 through Jan. 25, the Novus Ordo Sect observes what it calls the “Week of Prayer for Christian Unity”. It is an ecumenicized version of the traditional Catholic “Chair of Unity Octave”, which was approved by Pope St. Pius X in 1909 and extended to the Universal Church by Pope Benedict XV in 1916.… READ MORE

Retired academic again misleads his readers…

Clueless Kwasniewski cranks out another Load of Howlers on the Papacy

On Jan. 9, 2020, the conservative Novus Ordo web site Life Site published yet another blog post by Dr. Peter Kwasniewski, currently the semi-trads’ favorite academic because he continually reassures them that despite all his heresies and other errors, Jorge Bergoglio (Francis) really is the Pope of the Catholic Church — you just can’t follow the man without gravely endangering your Faith (which in turn would render the Papacy not only useless but extremely dangerous, but they never think that far).

Brilliant though he may be on many other issues, when it comes to the topic of the Papacy, Kwasniewski is simply abysmal.… READ MORE

Return of an old straw man…

On Disobeying the Pope:
Comments on a recent One Peter Five Article

“Can a Catholic Ever Disobey a Pope?” That is the question currently being asked at One Peter Five. An article by that title was posted on July 17, 2020, written by Paul Casey.

The author begins by claiming:

“No one is ever allowed to disobey the pope. Period.”

The statement is made repeatedly on social media, usually in an attempt to end a debate. It’s taken as a given. No sources cited, no documentation provided. It’s merely assumed. It is, after all, obvious.

Still Lost in Blunderland: Refuting Peter Kwasniewski’s Latest Specious Attack on Ultramontanism

(PART TWO)

by Francis del Sarto

CONTINUED FROM PART 1

A Brief Review

In PART ONE of this article, we explored how Dr. Peter Kwasniewski dared to use a secular, decidedly non-theological source to discuss the singularly Catholic and thoroughly theological subject of Ultramontanism, when he could have utilized a reference at his very fingertips that would have provided an authoritative article about it: The Catholic Encyclopedia.

Compound that with the fact that by using the secular source he was able to conceal important information to his audience that would have shown the fraudulent nature of the title of his own article, “My Journey from Ultramontanism to Catholicism”, with its unscrupulous innuendo that Ultramontanism is a heresy that stands in opposition to Catholic truth.… READ MORE

Still Lost in Blunderland: Refuting Peter Kwasniewski’s Latest Specious Attack on Ultramontanism

(PART THREE)

by Francis del Sarto

CONTINUED FROM PART 2

A Brief Review

In PART ONE of this article, we saw how Dr. Peter Kwasniewski discusses Ultramontanism and the Papacy using a strangely un-Catholic approach to the topic. His use of a secular encyclopedia rather than a Catholic theological reference work for his starting point was a telling and, surely, a totally calculated move on his part to help him discredit Ultramontanism. The real traditional Catholic position is at direct odds with his imaginary renderings of theology and Church history.… READ MORE

The case of Galatians 2:11-14…

The “St. Paul resisted St. Peter to his Face” Objection

Time and again we hear from those we call Semi-Traditionalists the argument that a Pope can lead the faithful astray into errors against the Faith through the exercise of his non-infallible Magisterium; and when that happens, it is then the right and the duty of the victim faithful to resist him, clinging to “Tradition”.

Those who defend this position often point to an incident that occurred between St. Paul and St. Peter recorded in Galatians 2:11-14, as supposed historical precedent for an error-teaching Pope being corrected and resisted by his inferiors.… READ MORE

How Holy Mother Church teaches her children…

What are Catholics Bound to Believe?

These days it is very fashionable — among those who acknowledge Jorge Bergoglio as a valid Pope, yet try to adhere to the immemorial Catholic Faith — to minimize what Catholics are required and permitted to believe by restricting it to those things that were taught by the Church prior to the death of Pope Pius XII in 1958, plus a few select doctrines and ideas that they have privately judged to be “in conformity with Tradition”, as their jargon usually goes. As for the rest, that is declared to be either impermissible or at least “utterly non-binding”, to stay with the typical recognize-and-resist lingo, in defiance of the official teaching of the people they claim are the present-day Catholic authorities.… READ MORE

The Ultramontanism Objection

Response to a misguided accusation…

The Ultramontanism Objection

We hear the accusations all the time: “Papolater!” – “Papal positivist!” – “Uber-Papalist!” – “Ultramontanist!” Among those who consider themselves traditional Catholics but accept Francis’ claim to being the Pope, the Catholic doctrine on the Papacy is not very popular, and it is easy to see why: Forcing Jorge Bergoglio through the template of the Papacy yields grotesque results.

Epithets like the ones mentioned are being hurled at us sedevacantists because we proclaim, as every Catholic did until the death of Pope Pius XII in 1958, that the teaching of the Roman Pontiff requires our submission — it is not subject to review, criticism, or validation by every Tom, Dick, and Harry who happens to have access to a copy of Denzinger and knows how to hit “publish” on a blogging platform.… READ MORE

Francis: Lutherans are “Members of one and the same Mystical Body of Christ” as Catholics

While everyone is busy with the ongoing fallout from the Ratzinger/Sarah book — the latest is that “Card.” Sarah met with Benedict XVI today — Chaos Frank received an ecumenical delegation of the Lutheran Church of Finland today, Jan. 17, on their annual trip to Rome for the feast of St. Henrik.

In his address to his fellow-non-Catholics, the false pope declared:

Together you are journeying – as all of us are – in communion of faith, so as to encourage one another and to strengthen one another in Christian discipleship.
