Podcast: The Synodal Church of Schism, Full Communion, and Total Insanity

(TRADCAST EXPRESS 228)

Our latest podcast episode, TRADCAST EXPRESS 228, has been published.

This 18-minute installment deals with several different topics, including the insane theology of ‘Fr.’ Bryan Massingale, who is in full communion with Leo XIV; the schism of the Society of St. Pius X, which is not in full communion with Leo; the bizarre view of retired Swiss auxiliary ‘Bp.’ Marian Eleganti that there is an “internal schism” in the Catholic Church; and the never-ending journey of the Synod on Synodality, the conclusion of which has now been pushed out to 2028.… READ MORE

‘Cardinal’ Kurt Koch (b. 1950), pictured above, is prefect of the Vatican’s so-called Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity.

The German Novus Ordo theologian Jan-Heiner Tück (b. 1967) is editor of the German-language edition of Communio, an international Neo-Modernist rag originally founded in 1972 by representatives of the less progressivist wing of the ‘New Theology’ (specifically, by Hans Urs von Balthasar, Henri de Lubac, and Joseph Ratzinger).

Those pesky ‘irregular situations’…

What If the SSPX Used Amoris Laetitia Logic to Defend its Unauthorized Ordination of Bishops?

If it weren’t for double standards, some people would have no standards at all.

Take the post-Catholic Vatican, for example. While preaching, on the one hand, that religious diversity is a gift from Almighty God, they also want people to believe that what is taught and believed by the Lefebvrist Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) is not among those ‘divine gifts’ conferred on humanity (unlike Hinduism or Islam, for instance).

On this web site we have been demonstrating for many years that both the SSPX and the Novus Ordo Vatican are wrong in their respective theological positions, so what you are reading in this post is not to be construed as a defense of the Lefebvrist position.… READ MORE

Two Videos: A Sedevacantist Take on the Vatican-SSPX Drama

With all the news and developments of recent days, we want to make sure the following two videos won’t ‘go under’: Yours truly appeared twice on the Catholic Family Podcast to comment on the recent consecration of bishops for the Lefebvrist Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) in Econe, Switzerland, as well as on the (predictable) reaction from the Vatican.

Although the Society accepts Leo XIV as a true Pope and professes submission to him, they nevertheless went ahead and consecrated four new bishops this past Wednesday not only without Leo’s authorization but against his explicit prohibition.… READ MORE

A Critical Look at the SSPX’s Substitute ‘Apostolic Mandate’ Read During their Unauthorized Episcopal Consecrations

During the ordination ceremony, Fr. Foucauld Le Roux read a special declaration in place of the ‘papal mandate’ they didn’t have

The traditional Roman rite of episcopal consecration begins with the reading of the so-called ‘Apostolic mandate’ (Mandatum Apostolicum) that authorizes and orders the bishop’s ordination that is about to be carried out. Such an Apostolic mandate can only come from the Holy See, that is, from the Pope, hence it is also referred to as a papal or pontifical mandate.… READ MORE

Leo Drops the Hammer: SSPX Excommunicated for Schism, Two Sacraments Henceforth Invalid

As expected, the ‘Holy See’ today published a decree declaring the latae sententiae excommunications incurred by the bishops of the Society of St. Pius X, both the consecrator Alfonso de Galarreta and the co-consecrator Bernard Fellay, as well as the newly-consecrated bishops Pascal Schreiber, Michael Goldade, Michel Poinsinet de Sivry, and Marc Hanappier, for the crime (acc. to Novus Ordo Church law) of having consecrated bishops without papal mandate. A separate ‘explanatory note’ was also released.

Although this event had been announced months in advance, the Vatican did not trouble itself to ensure that the two brief documents published against the FSSPX be translated into other languages in time for publication.… READ MORE

Podcast: The SSPX and the ‘Legitimate’ Exercise of the Papacy
(TRADCAST EXPRESS 227)

Our latest podcast episode, TRADCAST EXPRESS 227, was published on June 25. It is 28 minutes long and deals with the big news that broke the day before: that the leadership of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX or FSSPX), founded in 1970 by Abp. Marcel Lefebvre, had sent ‘Pope’ Leo XIV an open letter and, along with it, submitted a lengthy profession of faith that specifically opposes modern errors:

Pope Pius IX vs. Patriarch Joseph VI Audu:
The Full Text of the Encyclical Quae in Patriarchatu

His Beatitude Mar Joseph VI Audo (1790-1878) was the Chaldean Catholic Patriarch of Babylon (in what is now Iraq) from 1848 until 1878.

His tenure was turbulent, as he at times ‘recognized’ but ‘resisted’ the authority of the Apostolic See. Patriarch Audo (or Audu) insisted on having autonomy in appointing and consecrating bishops, without or even against the approval of the Supreme Pontiff, and he acted accordingly. He also considered himself to have jurisdiction over the Syro-Malabar Church in India.… READ MORE

Home At Last: Transalpine Redemptorists Become Sedevacantists

Some wonderful news broke earlier this month, on May 2, the feast of St. Athanasius, Doctor of the Church:

The ‘Congregation of the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer’ (Filii Sanctissimi Redemptoris or FSSR), headquartered on Papa Stronsay island off the northern coast of Scotland, published a formal document in which they disavow the Vatican II Church and its apostate counterfeit Catholicism, declare their allegiance to the true Roman Catholic religion, and explicitly repudiate Leo XIV and his predecessors through Paul VI, as being false popes.

In short: The ‘Transalpine Redemptorists’, as they are also known, have become sedevacantists.… READ MORE

Last Wednesday, on May 13, 2026, ‘His Eminence’ Víctor Manuel Fernández issued the following brief statement in his role as prefect of the Vatican’s so-called Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith:

With regard to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, we reiterate what has already been communicated. The episcopal ordinations announced by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X [FSSPX or SSPX] do not have the requisite papal mandate.

The Church’s Mystical Passion: What It Is (and Isn’t)

More and more people are adopting the idea that the profound changes to the Roman Catholic religion that have occurred since roughly the time of the Second Vatican Council (1962-65) can only be explained by positing that the Catholic Church has been sharing mystically in the Passion of her Divine Founder.

The Church being the Mystical Body of Christ, it is rather fitting that she should resemble her Invisible Head in all things, not excluding a period of intense suffering, persecution, and (at least apparent) ‘death’ before He returns to judge the living and the dead.… READ MORE

A Refutation of Bp. Athanasius Schneider’s Defense of the SSPX

This post was updated after it was first published to correct an error in a translation from the original German.

In a recent interview given to the German Certamen association, Bishop Athanasius Schneider, auxiliary of the diocese of Maria Santissima in Astana, Kazakhstan, answers questions regarding his position on the tensions between ‘Pope’ Leo XIV and the Lefebvrist Society of St. Pius X (SSPX or FSSPX).

The SSPX has announced episcopal consecrations for July 1, which will merit their bishops a decree of excommunication from Rome because they are acting independently and without the canonically required ‘papal mandate’ from Leo XIV.… READ MORE

Leo XIV: ‘This Is Not the Time For Opposition Between One Church and Another’!

Robert Prevost, aka ‘Pope’ Leo XIV, on March 8, 2026
(image: Copyright 2026, PubliKath GmbH, www.kna.de, All Rights Reserved)

In his Angelus address of this past Sunday, Mar. 8, 2026, Robert Francis Prevost (‘Pope Leo XIV’) reflected on Christ’s encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well (see John 4).

After telling his listeners that the Lord Jesus wants them to “recognize God’s surprises!” and that “Jesus was so spiritually nourished by God’s desire to reach people on the deepest levels that he even forgot to eat…” (italics added), the ‘Pope’ from Chicago informed the public:

This is not the time for opposition between one church and another, between “us” and “them”: those who worship God seek to be men and women of peace, who worship him in Spirit and in truth (cf.

A Challenge to Lefebvrism:
Some Inconvenient Questions for the Society of St. Pius X

Long-time readers of this blog know that we have critiqued and exposed the errors of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), founded by Abp. Marcel Lefebvre, many times. Here are some examples:

In view of the schism controversy surrounding the upcoming SSPX episcopal consecrations, it will be appropriate to reissue, in somewhat modified and updated form, a challenge to the clergy and/or lay adherents of the SSPX that was first published years ago.… READ MORE
