“A Conclave is in the Air”: Francis Rumored to Resign in December and Regulate Role of ‘Pope Emeritus’

Today the Italian newspaper Libero has an explosive headline on its front page: “Francis ready to resign ‘due to health, not age’. Whispers in the Vatican: ‘There’s a conclave in the air’.”

It is the title to an article written by Vaticanist Antonio Socci. The full text has not yet been published in professional English translation [UPDATE: one is now available here]; however, it can be found online in the original Italian at the Libero site as well as at Socci’s own blog, which can easily be translated using tools such as deepl.comREAD MORE

Papal address of September 14, 1952…

Pope Pius XII on the Moral Limits of Medical Treatment

On Sep. 14, 1952, Pope Pius XII gave an address to the First International Congress on the Histopathology of the Nervous System.

In it, the Holy Father speaks to scientists and doctors about the moral limits of medical research and treatment, specifically with regard to new methods, procedures, and technologies being tried. Pope Pius also addresses the question of what rights the patient has over his own body and psyche, what rights the doctor has over the patient, and, perhaps most importantly of all, what rights the lawful public authority has over individuals in view of the common good — and doesn’t have.… READ MORE

Francis at Audience: We must observe the Commandments Not to be Justified but to Aid the Encounter with Christ!

Jorge Bergoglio, alias “Pope Francis”, on Aug. 18, 2021

The walking theological train wreck known as “Pope Francis” (Jorge Bergoglio) has struck again.

This past Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, it was time again for the weekly General Audience. In his catechetical address (video here), Francis continued his “explanation” of St. Paul’s Letter to the Galatians, this time on the purpose of the Mosaic Law in preparing God’s people for the grace and freedom of the New Law that is the Gospel.… READ MORE

Paul VI in 1976: Vatican II is Binding, New Mass is Obligatory and Replaces the Old

If you’ve been researching Catholic Traditionalism for a while, chances are you’ve come across the argument made by recognize-and-resist apologists that “Pope” Paul VI (1963-78) himself confirmed that his Second Vatican Council (1962-65) was neither infallible nor binding.

The line of argumentation given in Taylor Marshall’s 2019 book Infiltration is characteristic of this approach:

Pope Paul VI promulgated Dignitatis humanae on 7 December 1965, and the next day he closed the Second Vatican Council and stated: “The magisterium of the Church did not wish to pronounce itself under the form of extraordinary dogmatic pronouncements” [footnote: Pope Paul VI, Discourse closing Vatican II, 7 December 1965].

Fratelli Tutti in a Nutshell:
Human Fraternity Theme Song discovered!

Many in the Vatican II Church are still reeling from Francis’ infernal motu proprio letter Traditionis Custodes, which severely curtails the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass. While they’re trying to find ways around it, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that the false pope is going full steam ahead with his Naturalist human fraternity agenda.

Earlier this year the Vatican released a chronology of “Human Fraternity in the Pontificate of Pope Francis.” February 4 is now “International Day of Human Fraternity”, and is recognized as such by the United Nations.… READ MORE

Was Pope Saint Pius X Murdered?
– A Fanciful Tale from 1919

“Was Pope Pius X Murdered?” That was the intriguing headline on page 6 of the editorial section of the Nov. 2, 1919 edition of The New York Times. The author of the piece was one Walter Litchfield.

The article weaves a fanciful tale based chiefly on two things: (a) claims made in the book Le Baptême de Sang (“The Baptism of Blood”) by a French author identified only as Abbé Daniel (“Fr. Daniel”); and (b) an unnamed Italian priest commenting on those claims and adding some of his own.… READ MORE

Is the Pope an Absolute Monarch?
The Authority of the Roman Pontiff in the Catholic Church

We live in a post-Traditionis Custodes world. It is not surprising, therefore, that it has become more fashionable than ever now for recognize-and-resist traditionalists to try to find all sorts of ways to limit or downplay papal authority, lest they should actually have to submit loyally to the decree their extremely valid “Pope” Francis released this past July 16, which gradually phases out the Traditional Latin Mass.… READ MORE

Francis’ Double Standard: Traditional Latin Mass forbidden, but Anglican Service is fine

On July 16, 2021, “Pope” Francis (Jorge Bergoglio) made it abundantly clear that he has no love for the traditional Roman rite of the Holy Catholic Mass, also called the Tridentine Mass, which was codified by Pope St. Pius V in the 16th century. It is, after all, the perfect worship directed to the Most Holy Trinity and the liturgical expression of the Roman Catholic Faith.

On the other hand, there is a liturgy dating back to the 16th century this fake pope does approve of: that of the heretico-schismatic “Church of England”, a human institution founded by King Henry VIII after Pope Clement VII, untainted by Amoris Laetitia or the “god of surprises”, refused to grant his request for a marriage annulment.… READ MORE

“Cardinal” Avery Dulles in 1976: Vatican II reversed the Prior Magisterium, showed Value of Dissent

Not that any more confirmation was needed, but it doesn’t hurt: Yes, Vatican II represents a genuine departure from the Roman Catholic magisterium.

Back in 1976, the Jesuit Fr. Avery Dulles (1918-2008) candidly acknowledged that the Second Vatican Council (1962-65) had contradicted and reversed the prior Catholic magisterium on sundry significant points of doctrine and discipline. This admission is noteworthy because most “orthodox” defenders of the council claim that a “correct interpretation” will show the continuity with prior teaching and debunk the allegations of rupture.… READ MORE

At a time when the recognize-and-resist traditionlists are running their engines at full throttle, now mainly due to the drama over “Pope” Francis’ Latin Mass suppressant Traditionis Custodes, it is important once again to draw attention to the fact that the popular resistance narratives these people have been spinning for decades simply do not jibe with reality.

Whether it be the myth that no Pope could ever abolish St.… READ MORE

If you can, please help Novus Ordo Watch stay afloat

Dear Friend of Novus Ordo Watch:

Alright, we’ll make this short.

This traditional Roman Catholic apostolate is in need of a little bit of additional financial support. Nothing huge, and there’s no crisis, it’s just that at the current pace we’re not quite able to cover all our monthly expenses.

A number of people are already kindly contributing, for which we are sincerely grateful. We’re not asking for more from them; rather, we’d like to encourage those who are not yet contributors to please consider making a small monthly or one-time donation if they can afford it, and if they agree that this web site is worthy of their support.… READ MORE

MELTDOWN: Round-Up of Reactions to Francis’ Suppression of the Traditional Latin Mass

Now that almost two weeks have passed since the release of Traditionis Custodes, “Pope” Francis’ motu proprio “Apostolic Letter” that severely limits (and gradually eliminates) the Traditional Latin Mass (1962 Missal), a lot of reactions have poured in from various quarters of the Vatican II Church; especially, of course, from those who consider themselves traditionalists, since they are the ones negatively affected by the suppression of Benedict XVI’s Summorum Pontificum.

By phasing out the Traditional Latin Mass (aka Tridentine Mass), a decision he allegedly made based on answers procured through a questionnaire process, Francis has ripped the heart out of the traditionalists in his church.… READ MORE

After focusing on so much news about Traditionis Custodes, we take a brief break today to publish another one of our famous “ugly church” posts — and here we’re using the term “church” rather loosely.

Today’s beauty comes from the Philippines. It is the “Chapel of the La Sallian Martyrs” and is part of De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde, Vito Cruz campus, in the Filipino capital of Manila. The “chapel” is located in the School of Design and Arts building, which says a lot about the school’s understanding of both.… READ MORE
