Who’s really on the safe side theologically?
Playing it Safe? Kennedy Hall and the Sedevacantist Wager
Kennedy Hall is a Canadian journalist, author, and internet pundit who falls squarely into the recognize-and-resist camp theologically.
On Oct. 21, 2022, writing for Crisis Magazine, Hall published a blog post entitled, “The Sedevacantist Wager”, in which he explains why he believes that, leaving aside all theological arguments, it is ultimately a much safer bet to accept Francis and his five predecessors as true Popes, as long as one sufficiently sifts their magisterium for whatever is heretical, erroneous, or otherwise dangerous to one’s soul.… READ MORE

The Synod goes Big Tent:
Vatican releases Working Document for next Synod Phase
(Disclaimer: NOT an official Synod image)
The earth was trembling yesterday as the Vatican held a press conference to introduce what the entire globe had been waiting for with bated breath: the 56-page Working Document for the Continental Stage of the ever-blessed Synod on Synodality.
The full document, which is adorned throughout with childishly silly crayon-style artwork, can be downloaded in five different languages from the Synod web site:
The paper consists of 109 numbered paragraphs and is divided into various chapters and sub-chapters.… READ MORE

A ‘Cry for Peace’: Francis leads Interreligious Prayer Meeting at Roman Colosseum
It has been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, yet expecting different results.
If that be true, then the world just got a little more insane on October 25, 2022, when the umpteenth interreligious prayer-for-peace assembly was held under the leadership of the head of the Vatican II religion, currently Jorge Bergoglio, also known as “Pope Francis”.
Under the motto “The Cry for Peace”, the world was subjected to yet another spectacle of representatives of different religions talking about and praying for world peace.… READ MORE

Kentucky Trappists receive Buddhist Monks
The famous Abbey of Gethsemani near Bardstown, Kentucky, had some special guests the other day.
The Trappist Novus Ordo monks were visited not only by “Buddhist friends and guests”, as they write on their official web site, but very specifically by “His Eminence” Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche. In case the name doesn’t sound familiar, the Trappists inform us that he is “not merely a teacher, but an emanation of Manjushri, the Wisdom Buddha, the current incarnation of a long and renowned lineage.” Can’t beat that!
Mr. Kundeling is a 40-year-old Tibetan who lives in India.… READ MORE

The Latest Athanasius Schneider Interview:
A Sedevacantist Assessment
“Bishop” Athanasius Schneider (b. 1961) is currently in the United States, traveling from one speaking engagement to another. As one of “Pope” Francis’ most outspoken critics, the Kazakh auxiliary of Astana is in high demand with the recognize-and-resist traditionalists, who need a kind of ‘substitute pope’ to reassure them that they are right to resist Francis while still recognizing him as a valid successor of St. Peter. And Schneider delivers.
Never mind that, supposing him to be Pope for a moment, it is Francis who has universal jurisdiction over all Catholics, whereas Schneider has jurisdiction over none, being a mere auxiliary and not in charge of a diocese.… READ MORE

Francis blasphemes again, says Holy Spirit created a ‘Mess’ at Pentecost
[UPDATE 18-OCT-2022: Replaced computerized translation with official Vatican translation now available.]
Jorge Bergoglio, the Argentinian apostate pretending to be the head of the Catholic Church under his stage name “Pope Francis”, thinks nothing of blasphemy. He has demonstrated this a few times in his nearly 10-year “pontificate”:
The most recent case of Bergoglian blasphemy was this past Friday, Oct.… READ MORE

Munich’s ‘Cardinal’ Reinhard Marx: “Obviously Jesus Does Not Mean to Proclaim a Divine Doctrine”
The notorious Archlayman of Munich and Freising, “Cardinal” Reinhard Marx (b. 1953), has done it again. In an Oct. 2022 special edition of the German Modernist rag Herder Korrespondenz, “His Eminence” dropped a whopper, or more than one.
In a two-and-a-half page article entitled “Speaking of God Today?”, Marx has the gall to claim: “The crisis of the Church is perhaps … also the crisis of an institution that has claimed and still does claim to know a lot about God and to be able to communicate His Will to all people in an authoritative manner” (“Heute von Gott reden?”… READ MORE

Theologian warns of ‘End of the Catholic Religion as We Have Known It’
Preparations for the 2023 “Synod on Synodality” are in full swing. Yes indeed, in October of next year a considerable number of Novus Ordo bishops will convene in the Vatican to have a 3-week meeting about meetings, so to speak.
The long “synodal process” began a year ago and is currently somewhere between the diocesan phase and the continental phase. Exciting stuff! The whole thing is basically a bureaucratic and blather-laden process to find a way to change Catholic teaching and practice with some semblance of legitimacy.… READ MORE

A Case of Mistaken Identity: Semi-Trad Conference tries to be Catholic in Opposition to the ‘Pope’
Eric Frankovitch, John-Henry Westen, and Michael Matt during a press conference Oct. 1, 2022
This past weekend, from Sep. 30 to Oct. 2, 2022, American recognize-and-resist traditionalists held an event called the “Catholic Identity Conference” in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (official web site).
Not unexpectedly, it was very well attended, being one of the few ways every year the semi-traditionalist crowd can gather together to reassure each other that they’re on the right track, regardless of what the “Pope” says — or the sedevacantists.… READ MORE

Words Fail: ‘Sacred Art’ in Austrian Chapel
What you see in the above image is not vandalism. It is much worse.
The red doodling on the walls and the ceiling is the work of Austrian artist Otto Zitko, perpetrated in 2003. He was commissioned to deface the holy space like this, apparently by the pastor.
The location of this frightful abomination is a side chapel, dedicated to St. Andrew the Apostle, that is part of St. Andrew’s parish (Sankt Andrä) in Graz, Austria. It lies within the diocese of Graz-Seckau, where “Bishop” Egon Kapellari was in charge at the time this blasphemous work was carried out.… READ MORE

What is the Sin of Usury?
The Church’s Doctor of Moral Theology explains
The sin of usury may very well be the most complex topic in all of Catholic moral theology. It involves a great many distinctions and nuances, and what adds to the difficulty is that usury is determined in part by the nature, function, and value of money, which has not always been the same throughout human history.
A pre-Vatican II Catholic dictionary defines “usury” succinctly as follows:

Usury is strictly speaking profit exacted on a loan of money just because it is a loan.
