Distinguished Pre-Vatican II Theologian:
A Heretical Pope is Impossible
The Jesuit Fr. Felix Cappello (1879-1962) was an outstanding theologian of the Catholic Church. He held doctorates in Sacred Theology, philosophy, and canon law. He taught at the Pontifical Gregorian University from 1920 to 1959 and served as a Vatican advisor.
In 1911/12, Fr. Cappello’s 2-volume work De Curia Romana (“On the Roman Curia”) was published. Volume 2 deals specifically with the Roman Curia during a time when there is no Pope, the state of sede vacante. It contains a treatment of the question of the “heretical Pope” (Papa haereticus) and whether the Church has the power to depose him.… READ MORE

Interview with Former Novus Ordo Priest Michael DeSaye
The Rev. Mr. Michael DeSaye is a sedevacantist seminarian who is well on his way to the Catholic priesthood. Just this past Saturday, he was ordained a deacon, the last step before becoming a priest.
Deacon DeSaye is not your typical sedevacantist, however. He is, in fact, a former Novus Ordo priest. His original (invalid) ordination in the Vatican II Church took place on June 2, 2018, for the diocese of Trenton, New Jersey.
In an extremely rare occurrence, which is no doubt a badge of honor for him, Rev.… READ MORE
An Interview with Novus Ordo Watch
on the Catholic Family Podcast (Video)
If you’ve ever wondered what the man behind Novus Ordo Watch — and the voice of TRADCAST — looks like, here is your chance to find out.
On March 23, 2022, the host of the Catholic Family Podcast, Kevin Davis, kindly interviewed yours truly in what turned into an interesting two-hour chat about the origins of Novus Ordo Watch, the state of the Vatican II Sect, and Sedevacantism. Here is the video:
Why some Catholics hold to the ‘Material-Formal Thesis’…
Apostolic Succession after Pope Pius XII:
Where is the Catholic Hierarchy?
In recent weeks there has been a considerable amount of online controversy among sedevacantists about the so-called “Material/Formal Theory” regarding the status of the Novus Ordo hierarchy, especially its so-called “popes”. Some cling adamantly to this thesis because they believe it to be significantly helpful or even essential to a proper understanding of the situation in the Catholic Church today, whereas others repudiate it because they judge it to be misleading or even a danger to the Faith. There are also those “in the middle” who do or don’t subscribe to the thesis but simply consider it a possible theological option, one that it would not be prudent to spend much time fighting over.… READ MORE
Now in Print: The Collected Writings of Fr. Anthony Cekada (RIP), 1979-2019
Anyone who researches Sedevacantism will quickly com across the name of Father Anthony Cekada (1951-2020), who was a pioneer in the movement and one of its most prolific defenders.
Ordained by Abp. Marcel Lefebvre for the Society of St. Pius X in 1977, Fr. Cekada was one of “The Nine” who were famously expelled by the archbishop in 1983, along with other well-known names such as Fathers Donald Sanborn, William Jenkins, Daniel Dolan, Clarence Kelly, and others. (For an informative and entertaining re-telling of that story, this free podcast features three of the Nine recalling the events leading to their expulsion.)… READ MORE
Denouncing “Newchurch”:
Another Theological Train Wreck from The Remnant
Dr. Jason Morgan is a university professor in Japan and author of numerous articles that have appeared in various journals and papers over the years.
Since 2018, he has been writing for the recognize-and-resist flagship publication The Remnant. One of his first posts was about Sedevacantism, to which we responded here:
One of his most recent contributions is a scathing denouncement of the Vatican II Sect, to which he, quite appropriately, gives the Orwellian term “Newchurch”:
This write-up is actually quite tragic itself, especially considering that the author believes himself to be a faithful traditional Roman Catholic and his position to be expressive of orthodox Catholicism.… READ MORE

Patrick Coffin dumps Francis, reverts to Benedict XVI
Patrick Coffin is the latest big-name individual in the Novus Ordo Church to publicly announce his belief that Benedict XVI’s resignation from the “Papacy” in 2013 was invalid, and therefore Francis is an Antipope (=false pope). This position has received various monikers over the years, such as “Benevacantism”, “Beneplenism”, the “BiP theory” (BiP = Benedict is Pope), and “Resignationism” (our preferred term).
Coffin came to prominence in the conservative “Catholic” world as host of the radio program Catholic Answers Live put out by the high-profile Novus Ordo apologetics org Catholic Answers, founded by Karl Keating and currently run by Christopher Check.… READ MORE
In PART ONE of this article, we saw how Dr. Peter Kwasniewski discusses Ultramontanism and the Papacy using a strangely un-Catholic approach to the topic. His use of a secular encyclopedia rather than a Catholic theological reference work for his starting point was a telling and, surely, a totally calculated move on his part to help him discredit Ultramontanism. The real traditional Catholic position is at direct odds with his imaginary renderings of theology and Church history.… READ MORE
Scratch That: How Salza & Siscoe misrepresent Fr. Laymann in their Crusade against Sedevacantism
For an article against Sedevacantism, John Salza omits crucial words from a canonist he quotes
The Austrian Jesuit Fr. Paul Laymann (1574-1635) was a renowned moral theologian and canonist in post-Reformation Europe. He was also the confessor of the Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II.
In their 2015 book True or False Pope? Refuting Sedevacantism and other Modern Errors, Messrs. John Salza and Robert Siscoe quote Fr. Laymann in support of their claims against Sedevacantism. In 2016, they made an article available on their web site presenting their argument against Sedevacantism from Fr.… READ MORE
Canceling Francis:
15 Videos on Why You Should Be a Sedevacantist
Dear traditionalists in the Vatican II Church: Francis has canceled you. Isn’t it time you canceled him?
For year’s end, we want to provide a convenient post that lists 15 of the most important and most compelling videos we have promoted on this web site over the years that make the case for Sedevacantism in one way or another. Some are long, some are short; some are more riveting, others more dry — but all of them are well worth your time.
Here they are, in no particular order:
The Papacy and Sedevacantism: Have the Gates of Hell prevailed?
The article stands out for making unsubstantiated claims, a very common problem in “recognize-and-resist” circles. That is not to say that all its claims are false, of course; but it does show, it seems, a certain disrespect for the reader, who is apparently expected to simply accept what the author puts forward.… READ MORE
It is a justified critique of the Modernist concept of “faith” and Antipope Francis‘ synodal process, which is obviously aimed at changing the Catholic religion even further than the last 60 years have done. “But if everything is open to debate”, Morrison writes, “then we believe based on the consensus of men” and not on the authority of God revealing.… READ MORE
