Guess which side the diocese is taking: City of Toledo, Ohio vs. diocese of Toledo in battle over saving or demolishing historic Catholic church building.

Canadian Jesuits offer three-session course on “The Enneagram – A Practice for Accessing Your Divine Essence.” What, you didn’t know you’re divine? The Jesuits do!

‘Pope’ Francis puts on his evangelizing face for a moment: “Once we’ve encountered Christ, we can’t keep Him to ourselves”. Unless, of course, we’re telling an interreligious audience that Christianity is just one language among many that lead to God, that the different religions express the “richness of different ways of coming to God”, that the diversity of religions is like a mosaic in which each piece is necessary for the beauty of the whole, or that God has given religious diversity as a gift to mankind.… READ MORE

Papal address of January 17, 1940…

Pope Pius XII on the Unchanging Orthodoxy of the Papal Teaching Office

One of the main services Novus Ordo Watch tries to render to the public is the making available of, or raising awareness concerning, Catholic magisterial texts that are not widely known or have not before been published online in English. There is a wealth of pre-Vatican II papal teaching ‘on the books’ that, unfortunately, is largely unknown even to traditional Catholics; thus we are trying to do our part to help remedy this situation. Thankfully, with recent advances in technology, discovering and spreading it has become easier and easier.… READ MORE

Former SSPX Bishop Richard Williamson Is Dying

[UPDATE 29-JAN-2025: Bp. Williamson died at 23:23 GMT.]

The Most Rev. Richard Williamson, one of the four bishops consecrated for the Society of St. Pius X (FSSPX) in defiance of ‘Pope’ John Paul II on June 30, 1988, by Abp. Marcel Lefebvre and Bp. Antonio de Castro Mayer, is reportedly near death and may already have died by the time this post is published.

According to Vatican journalist Edward Pentin, the 84-year-old bishop from England was admitted to the hospital yesterday evening on account of a brain hemorrhage and has received extreme unction:

PHOTOS: ‘Bishop’ Athanasius Schneider in Audience with ‘Pope’ Francis

(image ©Vatican Media)

The daily news bulletin put out by the Holy See Press Office on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, included a rather unexpected item: ‘Pope’ Francis (Jorge Bergoglio) had received in audience that morning the Most Rev. Athanasius Schneider, O.R.C., auxiliary bishop of the diocese of Maria Santissima in Astana, Kazakhstan.

This was a surprise insofar as Schneider has for years been one of Bergoglio’s most vocal critics.

Not much is known about the meeting. There has been no comment from the Vatican, but of course there are photographs (above and further down below, and a few more here), and there are a few words from Bishop Schneider himself to the National Catholic Register:

Bishop Athanasius Schneider said Pope Francis “showed great cordiality” toward him during a private audience on Monday and that they “spoke about some important themes on the life of the Church.”

Famous Hollywood icon interviewed by Joe Rogan…

Mel Gibson, Sedevacantism, and the 1958 Conclave

Everyone has been talking about it: Mel Gibson’s appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast earlier this month. As of the publication of this post, the YouTube version of the episode has 8.7 million views; and that’s not counting the audio-only version on Spotify, where the podcast has its home.

Joseph Rogan (b. 1967) is an immensely successful secular podcaster. His show, The Joe Rogan Experience, is among the world’s most listened to podcasts.

Mel Gibson (b. 1956) is, of course, a famous Hollywood actor and movie producer.… READ MORE

German Novus Ordo Bishop:
No Need to Evangelize the Whole World!

There’s nothing Catholic left in him: ‘Bp.’ Franz-Josef Overbeck of Essen

The state of post-Vatican II ‘Catholicism’ in Germany has never been worse than today. This is confirmed by a recent sermon delivered by Franz-Josef Overbeck (b. 1964), the ‘Catholic bishop’ of the diocese of Essen.

Some quick background: In 2021, ‘Bp.’ Overbeck, made headlines by claiming that God is present in sodomitical relationships. His auxiliary, ‘Bp.’ Ludger Schepers (b. 1953), was recently appointed commissioner for queer pastoral care by the German bishops’ conference. … READ MORE

The Binding Force of Papal Teaching:
A Pre-Vatican II Theologian Explains

Fr. John F. Cronin (1908-94) was an expert on Catholic social teaching

For about six decades now, many Catholics of good will have been subjected to great deception and falsehood from two angles: On the one hand, the Novus Ordo religion that emerged in the Vatican with the Second Vatican Council (1962-65), and on the other hand, the good-faith but nevertheless often theologically-flawed attempts to resist that new religion while nevertheless recognizing the ‘Popes’ who have imposed it as legitimate Popes.… READ MORE

Novus Ordo-approved, Catholicism-free!

Youth-Centered ‘Zimzum Festival’ in Augsburg Misleads Souls

Since the Vatican II religion offers nothing genuinely satisfying to hungry souls, especially not in its liturgy, every so often the powers that be in Novus Ordo Land feel the need to engage the youth in some kind of exciting ‘faith adventure’ to rouse their interest in religion and administer another dose of pseudo-spirituality to them to keep them going for a while longer.

What could be more conducive to that end than a charismatic festival that is not just for ‘Catholics’ but also for people from all kinds of other churches/denominations?… READ MORE

The Stuff of Nightmares: Novus Ordo Church in Canada Among World’s Most Hideous

It’s fairly easy to find ugly Novus Ordo churches because they’re practically everywhere. But every so often, one comes across a humdinger of a post-Vatican II ‘Catholic church’ that is so extraordinarily hideous that it deserves a special dishonorable mention.

Of such a kind is the building known as ‘St. Mary’s Catholic Church’ in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. What at first glance looks more like a sewage plant or an indoor water park turns out to be a ‘Roman Catholic church’ of the Archdiocese of Edmonton.… READ MORE
