Substantial error on Barnhardt’s part…

Benedict XVI’s Mysterious Resignation:
A Reply to Ann Barnhardt

On Nov. 17, 2018, the colorful blogger Ann Barnhardt, a Resignationist since 2016, released a video presentation in which she tries to convince her audience that “Pope” Benedict XVI’s resignation in 2013 was invalid because he is, so she argues, in “substantial error” about the Papacy, and substantial error renders a resignation invalid according to Canon 188 of the 1983 Novus Ordo Code of Canon Law (this same law is also found in the 1917 Catholic Code of Canon Law; see Canon 185). Ergo, Barnhardt reasons, the resignation was not valid and Benedict XVI is the Pope, albeit, so she says, the worst Pope in history.

New Ratzinger article published…

Benedict XVI: No Mission to the Jews, just Dialogue

Instead of remaining silently retreated in his little safe house in Vatican City, “hidden from the world”, as he had initially promised, Fr. Joseph Ratzinger — a.k.a. “Pope Emeritus” Benedict XVI — has once again inserted himself into the world of theological discourse. Although he speaks with much greater finesse and academic credibility than his boorish successor, the blasphemies he utters differ at best in degree, not in kind.

The German theological journal Herder Korrespondenz just released its December 2018 edition. On the cover, pictured above, we see Benedict XVI next to the words Die Entgegnung — “The Rejoinder” — because in this issue the retired “Pope” responds to those who had blasted him for an essay published in the July/August 2018 issue of Communio, wherein Ratzinger had dared to assert that “[t]he [Novus Ordo] formula of the ‘never-revoked covenant’ [between God and the Jews] may have been helpful in a first stage of the new dialogue between Jews and Christians, but it is not adequate in the long run to express the magnitude of the reality in a way that is passably appropriate” (source; our translation).

The return of Resignationism…

Antonio Socci rocks Vatican with New Book:
“The Secret of Benedict XVI: Why he is still Pope”

After over five-and-a-half years of the antics of Jorge Bergoglio as “Pope Francis”, many Novus Ordos and semi-traditionalists simply cannot take it anymore and are starting to look for ways to rid themselves of Francis, yet while still trying to avoid the Sedevacantist conclusion. Thus we are witnessing once again the “anything but Sedevacantism” dogma being put into practice.

A few years ago we had already seen a few people embrace the phenomenon we have nicknamed “Resignationism” (see all our posts on the topic here) — the idea that Benedict XVI’s resignation in 2013 was invalid and he is therefore “still” Pope — but it was not accepted by most.

In case you missed our initial announcement on November 12: We have published another full-length episode of our popular TRADCAST podcast program. As always, it is loaded with real traditional Catholicism, hard-hitting refutations of various errors, and razor-sharp analysis. Our content is typically challenging but is always delivered with a relieving touch of humor.

TRADCAST 023 consists of two separate segments. In the first, we look at how Sedevacantists are truly the “last Catholics”, those who believe exactly what was believed and taught until Pope Pius XII died and refused to change their religion afterwards.

Bergoglio and Anti-Clericalism

Investigating the charge of “Clericalism”…

Bergoglio and Anti-Clericalism:

Why has Francis appropriated Rhetoric derived from Virulent Enemies of the Catholic Church?

by Francis del Sarto

“I believe the Lord wants a change in the Church. I have said many times that a perversion of the Church today is clericalism”, declared “Pope” Francis in a private meeting with 28 of his fellow Novus Ordo Jesuits during his visit to Lithuania. “I know that the Lord wants the Council to make headway in the Church” (source).

And many, indeed, have been the instances where Francis has invoked the specter of “clericalism”, dating back as far as his 2013 social justice warrior manifesto — er, “apostolic exhortation” — Evangelii Gaudium, where he pushed the Vatican II “people of God” nonsense, complaining that

[l]ay people are, put simply, the vast majority of the people of God.

Before Francis, there was Benedict…

Ratzinger’s Roman Apostasy Symbolism

At a time when “Pope Emeritus” Benedict XVI is once again held in the highest esteem by countless people who are fed up with “Pope” Francis, a little reality check is in order lest we forget that few individuals are more personally responsible for the near-total collapse of Catholicism in our day than the former Joseph Ratzinger.

In 2006, a German publisher released a 48-page booklet entitled Ratzingers römische Apostasie-Symbolik, written by Dr. Wigand Siebel (1929-2014) and Dr. Carl Angermayr. In 2007, the work was translated into English as Ratzinger’s Roman Apostasy Symbolism, and it is this translation Novus Ordo Watch is now excited to make widely available in electronic format, entirely free of charge, with the permission of the translator.

Novus Ordo priest punished for “heresy and schism”…

Francis Critic “Fr.” Alessandro Minutella declared Excommunicated

The Archlayman of Palermo has announced that one of the Novus Ordo priests in his diocese, the 45-year-old “Fr.” Alessandro Minutella, has excommunicated himself for the crimes of heresy and schism. The statement put out by the Archdiocese of Palermo to that effect was quickly reported on Vatican News and in English reads as follows:

On November 13, 2018, Father Alessandro Maria Minutella was notified of the Decree of August 15, 2018 (Prot. No. 046/18) by which the Archbishop Corrado Lorefice DECLARES the excommunications latae sententiae, which the same priest has incurred for the crime of heresy and for the crime of schism, as required by canon law (cf.

Giving you a heads-up…

Novus Ordo Altar in Italy features 120 Severed Heads

The Vatican II Church has done it again, this time in Italy. La Repubblica reports on a new Novus Ordo altar that is a real head-turner — pun intended. Not much comment is required. We’ll let the pictures speak for themselves:

This piece of macabre sacrilege was unveiled this past Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta in Gallarate near Milan. The La Repubblica report says that this travesty of an altar was designed by Claudio Parmiggiani and has generated heated controversy, with some Novus Ordos even calling it “satanic.”

The basilica’s “Monsignor” Ivano Valagussa has dismissed concerns over how people, especially children, will react to this offensive and disturbing “artwork”: “Art needs time and listening”, he assures the gullible.

Missing the Forest for the Trees:

The Remnant on Schism and Sedevacantism

The pseudo-traditionalist flagship publication The Remnant has once again graced the world with the full depth of its theological wisdom. This biweekly American newspaper promotes what is perhaps best called a “pop traditionalism”, a distortion of traditional Catholicism that emphasizes certain popular elements or emotionally satisfying aspects — such as the Latin Mass, traditional practices, and rejection of whacky Novus Ordo ideas — but without any commitment to (or even regard for) sound Catholic theology, knowledge of which would have to be acquired through laborious effort and might lead to undesirable consequences.

A New Book defending Baptism of Desire and Blood:

Contra Crawford: A Defense of Baptism of Desire & Periodic Continence

by Dylan Fellows and Christopher Conlon

The sedevacantist laymen Dylan Fellows and Christopher Conlon are the authors of a new book defending the Catholic position on baptism of desire and baptism of blood as capable of supplying the sanctifying grace of the sacrament of baptism. This Church doctrine has been denied by a number of confused souls both inside and outside of Sedevacantism, especially in the United States, in the last few decades.

The name that is commonly (although not quite correctly) given to this erroneous denial is “Feeneyism”, because the first major figure to hold that those who die with the baptism of desire or blood will nevertheless go to hell was the Jesuit Fr.

Francis cracks down on “Bp.” Athanasius Schneider, orders him to reduce his traveling abroad

[UPDATE 08-NOV-2018 01:17 UTC: The German paper Die Tagespost reports that “Bp.” Schneider says the Vatican has merely asked him to ensure that his travels outside his diocese do not exceed the 30 days’ limit legislated in canon law. He has not been censured or forbidden from traveling. UPDATE 16:52 UTC: Schneider speaks to Life Site to explain the situation.]

We all know that “Pope” Francis is a big friend of migration, but even he has his limits when it comes to tolerating persistent moving about.

Chaos Frank explains the Sixth Commandment

It is customary for the false popes of the Novus Ordo Sect to offer a catechism lesson during their weekly General Audience. This is the place where “St.” John Paul II, for example, made known his notorious sexology known as the “Theology of the Body” over a span of several years in the early 1980s. Naturally, Jorge Bergoglio (“Pope Francis”) has retained this custom, as he loves nothing better than spewing his Modernist ideas in front of a large audience.

The series of catechetical instructions Francis is currently offering is on the Ten Commandments.
