Demonstrating the Folly of the False Traditionalist ‘Recognize & Resist’ Position
Inspired by a recent suggestion from Mr. Stephen Heiner of True Restoration, we have decided to illustrate the absudity of the false traditionalist “recognize and resist” position by taking a recent article from Mr. John Vennari, one of the main propagators of this position in the United States, and substituting every mention of “Francis” with the phrase “Vicar of Jesus Christ on Earth”, which Mr. Vennari absolutely insists is exactly who “Pope” Francis is. The recognize-and-resist view is essentially the position that true Catholics must recognize the Vatican II church and its hierarchy as the true Catholic Church of Jesus Christ and as the legitimate Roman Catholic shepherds (in contrast to sedevacantism, which denies that the Vatican II church is the Catholic Church or its clerics are Roman Catholic authorities), yet resist them in any and all matters pertaining to faith, morals, church government, or worship inasmuch as these are harmful, impious, erroneous, sacrilegious, or heretical.

Poor Jorge Bergoglio. Poor “Pope” Francis. Most of the world believes him to be the Pope of the Catholic Church, including the majority of those who consider themselves Catholic Traditionalists or Traditional Catholics. So some of these latter wanted to give their “Pope” a nice spiritual bouquet to show their love and loyalty, but they forgot that the recipient of this bouquet isn’t a Catholic and so he doesn’t know what to do with it. In an anecdote the “Holy Father” himself related, upon his election as Francis, he got a letter from one of those (his words) “restorationist groups” in Buenos Aires, telling him: “Your Holiness, we offer you this spiritual treasure: 3,525 rosaries.”
Jorge Bergoglio’s constant and excessive display of “I’m way too humble to be doing this the way my predecessors did” is getting old and annoying. But it is very interesting that his actions are basically screaming, “I am not the Pope!” Of course, even this isn’t enough for the anti-sedevacantist “recognize but resist” crowd, but apparently nothing will ever be. The following news article should be shocking to anyone who considers himself a traditional Catholic and believes Mr. Bergoglio to be the Pope of the Catholic Church:
As should be getting woefully apparent now even to those at first in denial, this new “papacy” of Bergoglio-Francis is dealing a tremendous blow to the Benedict XVI fans and their “restoration of Tradition” movement (long ago exposed by us as being based on wishful thinking, not fact).
As of 8:00 pm CET, Feb. 28, 2013, it is sede vacante in the Novus Ordo Church — Fr. Joseph Ratzinger has stepped down, has ceased claiming the title of Pope after almost eight years.
