On Dec. 21, the members of the Roman Curia were gathered in the Clementine Hall of the Apostolic Palace to receive what used to be called the Pope’s annual Christmas greetings. While Jorge Bergoglio has occupied the Vatican structures under the stage name “Pope Francis”, however, it is more appropriate to speak of a yearly Christmas spanking, at least since 2014. On Dec. 12, 2017, a menorah was lit behind Vatican walls in a Jewish ceremony led by Oren David, who is Israel’s Ambassador to the Holy See. A number of official Vatican representatives participated in a rite of prayers, hymns, and candle-lighting. As Vatican Insider reports:

On December 7, Vatican City solemnly inaugurated its Christmas tree and Nativity scene at St. Peter’s Square. The video of the entire ceremony can be watched here:
