Chromosomes don’t lie…
Kentucky Hermit Comes Out as Transgender, with Approval of Novus Ordo Bishop
‘Brother’ Christian is actually a woman, and ‘Bishop’ John Stowe (bottom left) has known it all along…
[UPDATE 21-MAY-2024 19:06 UTC: Diocese of Lexington issues Communiqué on ‘Brother Christian’ Matson]
Crazy news out of the ‘Catholic’ diocese of Lexington, Kentucky: A hermit thought to be a male has informed the world he is ‘transgender’. In other words, he is actually a woman who roughly two decades ago had her externals altered so that she now looks and sounds like a man. What is more, this woman-pretending-to-be-a-man made her announcement with the full support of the local Novus Ordo bishop.
Religion News Service broke the story on Pentecost Sunday, the false hermit’s planned ‘coming out day’:
Diocesan hermits by nature don’t get much attention. A small subset of religious persons, hermits mostly spend their lives engaged in quiet prayer.
Brother Christian Matson, a Catholic diocesan hermit in Kentucky, has spent years doing just that. His monk’s habit might catch his neighbor’s eye, but he is known in the town where he lives primarily through his work with the local theater.
But recently Matson decided that his faith compels him to make a little more noise than usual.
“This Sunday, Pentecost 2024, I’m planning to come out publicly as transgender,” Matson told Religion News Service on Friday (May 17), saying he was speaking out with the permission of his bishop, John Stowe of the Diocese of Lexington in Kentucky.

That a hermit should work in a theater is also rather unusual but clearly not the biggest story here.
It is no surprise that the ultra-woke ‘Bishop’ John Stowe, O.F.M. Conv., approved of the hermit’s ‘transgender’ announcement, considering his LGBTQ+ track record.
Stowe has written the foreword to a book on “queerness in the Catholic Church” by the perverted, anti-Catholic German Novus Ordo priest Wolfgang Rothe. He has also written the foreword to Coming Out and Coming Home by Stan Zerkowski. And it was under Stowe’s watch that a Novus Ordo parish in Lexington — only a few miles from the diocesan headquarters, in fact — blasphemed the Holy Virgin Mary as “Mother of Pride”. Furthermore, Stowe loves to celebrate “pride month” and even sends video greetings. He is all about personal dignity — except when it comes to keeping some of his clerics’ medical records private.
So, clearly, it was a given that ‘Bp.’ Stowe would be supportive of a ‘transgender coming-out’ by a quasi-religious who is living a lie.
But not only that. Stowe in fact knew from the very beginning that Matson is a woman, because she was upfront about the matter when she asked permission to pursue a religious vocation in his diocese under pretense of being a man:
A priest friend recommended different bishops to contact, beginning with Stowe, who was emerging as a leading voice among Catholics calling for a more tolerant approach to LGBTQ+ people. In 2020, Matson sent Stowe a letter, conveying his status as a transgender man, his vision for an artists’ community and his pull to religious life.
Stowe wrote back immediately, expressing his openness.

As the report goes on to relate, Stowe wanted Matson to “experience religious life” before living as a hermit, and so she “entered the novitiate at a Benedictine monastery in 2021….” We may presume that the poor monks had no idea!
The article from Religion News Service contains plenty of additional information but is silent on Matson’s real identity. A person can change his name and even his physical appearance; his identity, however, remains. The cold, hard fact of the matter is that ‘Brother Christian’ Matson, formerly known as ‘Cole’ Matson, is in reality Nicole Matson. Her high school graduation picture, published on June 13, 2002 in the Daily Press of Virginia, testifies to the truth:

Ultimately, all this comes down to basic biology: Matson has XX chromosomes, and therefore she is female, a woman. How she feels about that does not change the reality of it. She can have surgery to change her external appearance, but the biological sex is determined by the DNA, and chromosomes don’t lie: She is and remains a female because that is how God made her, and that is good.
Of course one cannot deny that some people sincerely struggle psychologically with how God made them. That is not something to be scoffed at or dismissed as inconsequential. It is real, it is tragic, and it is to be taken seriously. People who suffer in that regard should be offered help, compassion, and support that does not seek to affirm them in their illusions but in the reality of who they truly are. They should be affirmed in how God truly made them. The solution to their difficulties will be found in healing their troubled psyche — certainly not in modifying their body, lying to themselves and others about who they are, or engaging in make-believe and demanding everyone else play along.
The ‘transgender hermit’ story out of Lexington shows how insane and absurd our times have become. It is reminiscent of what happened many years ago in the diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin, under then-‘Bishop’ Raymond Burke:
We live in a society that is trying to force us to lie. As in the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell, we are to be forced to lie and even worse: We are to believe the lie. We must, therefore, firmly stand against this madness now, before it is too late. Our sinful world has long denied revealed truth; now it wants us to deny even simple natural facts known by empirical observation and reason.
Interestingly enough, Miss Matson is a convert to the Novus Ordo religion (post-Vatican II ‘Catholicism’) from Presbyterianism. On Jan. 12, 2015, she appeared (as ‘Cole’) on an episode of EWTN’s program The Journey Home with Marcus Grodi. Obviously, her real identity was not known then. EWTN has since removed the video, but it is still available at GloriaTV.
So, what will happen next in Lexington?
Well… Francis may just have a new job for ‘Bp.’ Stowe. The nearby Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Ohio, is in need of a new archbishop. At only 58 years of age, Stowe could do incalculable damage to souls there for quite a long time.
