Breaking news out of West Chester, Ohio: Bp. Daniel Dolan has announced his intention to consecrate a bishop on Wednesday, Sep. 29, the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel, at his parish church of St. Gertrude the Great. The bishop-elect is the Brazilian Fr. Rodrigo Henrique Ribeiro da Silva.
The following announcement appears in the most recent parish bulletin of St. Gertrude’s:
It is to Brazil that I am turning for another bishop to take care of our faithful in Mexico and South America, as well as to help assure the apostolic succession in these so uncertain times.

Bp. Richard Williamson’s Strange Theology on the ‘New Mass’
Long-time readers of this web site may remember the outrage and exasperation the recognize-and-resist bishop Richard Williamson (b. 1940, ex-SSPX) triggered five years ago when he answered a laywoman’s question about whether it was ever permissible to assist at the Novus Ordo Missae (“New Mass”) of Paul VI. The answer the Lefebvrist bishop gave was so lengthy, convoluted, and vacillating that by the end he had said everything and its opposite, from yes to no, to maybe, to ask someone else.… READ MORE
Bp. Williamson: Two New SSPX Bishops to be consecrated on April 28 — with Mandate from Francis
In a video-recorded sermon given on Quinquagesima Sunday, Mar. 3, 2019, the former SSPX bishop Richard Williamson announced that the Society of St. Pius X will consecrate two new bishops on the First Sunday after Easter, Apr. 28. He identifies one of the new bishops-to-be as Fr. Christian Bouchacourt and notes that the main consecrator will be “Bp.” Vitus Huonder of Chur, Switzerland, who is expected to have his resignation approved by “Pope” Francis by Apr. 21, when he turns 77.… READ MORE
30 Years since the SSPX Episcopal Consecrations of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre
In 1988, June 30 was a Thursday. Liturgically, it was the Commemoration of St. Paul the Apostle. That day, all eyes were on a tiny settlement in the southwest of Switzerland by the name of Écône. At a press conference on June 15, the French archbishop Marcel Lefebvre (1905-1991) had announced that on the 30th of the month he was going to consecrate four bishops in Econe, even against the express prohibition of the man he acknowledged to be the Vicar of Jesus Christ, the Polish apostate Bp.… READ MORE
In case you missed our initial announcement on March 29: Our popular TRADCAST podcast program is back with a new, full-length episode! As always, it is loaded with real traditional Catholicism, hard-hitting refutations of various errors, razor-sharp analysis, and a touch of humor.
In this latest epsiode, TRADCAST 017, we take a look at the self-contradictions in Christopher Ferrara’s response to the sacrilegious Anglican liturgy that took place on March 13 at the Vatican; we respond to an anti-sedevacantist post on the so-called Catholic Truth Blog; we draw attention to the fact that Francis has directly contradicted Jimmy Akin on the issue of proselytism; we briefly talk about our fundraiser for 2017; and we once again refute the absurd theology of the recognize-and-resist camp in a response to Michael Matt’s soliloquy against Sedevacantism in his Remnant Underground video “Papalotry RIP”.… READ MORE

Bishop Richard Williamson, formerly with the Society of St. Pius X but expelled in 2012 for being as obedient to Bp. Fellay as Fellay was obedient to John Paul II, still stubbornly clings to the Lefebvrist “recognize-and-resist” position and so continues to reject Sedevacantism. A convert from Anglicanism in 1971, Bp. Williamson has demonstrated again and again that although he always has plenty to say, he has no real grasp of genuine Catholic theology.
Recently, Bp. Williamson published a two-part series against Sedevacantism in his weekly Eleison Comments.… READ MORE
German Authorities Try to Shut Down Traditional Catholic Web Site, Seek Arrest of Editors for “Incitement of the People”

Update 2013: Kreuz.Net took itself offline in December 2012 on its own initiative; while the reason is not known with certainty, the “unofficial” word is that it was done to protect the identity of the individuals involved as the pressure from law enforcement and other groups became more and more acute.

Bishop Williamson consecrates Fr. Tomás de Aquino a Bishop for Resistance Group

In an effort to expand the group of clerics that left the Society of St. Pius X in recent years because the SSPX wasn’t SSPX enough for them anymore, Bishop Richard Williamson — himself expelled from the SSPX in 2012 — consecrated another bishop, this time, Fr. Tomas de Aquino, OSB. The episcopal consecration took place as scheduled on March 19, 2016, in Nova Friburgo, Brazil, near Rio de Janeiro.
Against Mente-Vacantism:
Refuting the Idea that the Vatican II “Popes” Cannot Be Guilty of Heresy because they have no Grasp of Immutable Truth
Bishop Donald Sanborn, rector of the sedevacantist Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida, has produced another excellent post in which he refutes one of the main errors of the ‘Resistance’ movement, that which has come to be known as “mente-vacantism” — “empty-mindedness” —, according to which Francis and his manifestly heretical predecessors cannot be considered heretics because they are allegedly incapable of understanding the concept of the changelessness (“immutability”) of truth.
TRADCAST 007, released on August 17, 2015, is packed with informative traditional Catholic content: In the first segment, we examine the Nature of Faith to understand why it is that a Catholic must believe all dogmas of the Faith in order to be a Catholic, and why even denial of just one dogma does not render him “mostly” Catholic but not a Catholic at all. We then tackle American Novus Ordo blogger Mark Shea’s controversial remarks about the Planned Parenthood undercover videos — while he did denounce the atrocities of the baby-killing organization, in a recent podcast he spent considerable time condemning the prolife entity that exposed Planned Parenthood for lying to the abortionists and deceiving them in order to be able to make these videos.… READ MORE

Williamson Watch:
More Commentary on the “New Mass” Fiasco
Bp. Richard Williamson
Once more we return to the controversy surrounding Bishop Richard Williamson for remarks he made on June 28 of this year about the licitness of attending the “New Mass” of Paul VI (aka Novus Ordo Missae) in certain exceptional circumstances. Because of the seriousness of the question and the standing Bp. Williamson enjoys among people who consider themselves uncompromising, militant traditional Catholics, more commentary on the matter is fitting.
Formerly with the Society of St. Pius X (until his dismissal in 2012) and now a “wandering” cleric, Bp.… READ MORE
Christ or Belial?
Bp. Sanborn refutes Bp. Williamson on the “New Mass”
Just recently we took Bp. Richard Williamson to task for his ludicrous argumentation that the “New Mass” of the Vatican II Sect can licitly be attended by Catholics under certain restrictive circumstances. As we demonstrated in our post and video, the former SSPX bishop’s argumentation was lacking in consistency and, most of all, in traditional Catholic theological principles. Williamson based his entire argumentation on the Modernist, Subjectivist, and Protestant idea that licit attendance at Holy Mass is determined by what it does for the believer, rather than whether it is the true worship of God by the Catholic Church.… READ MORE
Bishop Williamson: Novus Ordo “Mass” is Bad
but OK if it “Nourishes your Faith”
We have long criticized the absurd, non-Catholic, and principle-less “theology” of the Lefebvrist Society of St. Pius X. How poor and bizarre it really is has just been demonstrated once again by none other than Bishop Richard Williamson, an Englishman consecrated by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in 1988.
Although at this point no longer a part of the official SSPX, he is still very much part of the semi-traditionalist “resistance” against the Modernist Vatican that recognizes Francis and his five predecessors of infelicitous memory as legitimate — yet entirely ignorable — Roman Catholic Popes.… READ MORE
