Resignationism Continued…

Now “Abp.” Ganswein Weighs In:
Benedict’s Emeritus Status
“Corresponds to Reality”

“Archbishop” Georg Ganswein, Secretary to Benedict XVI

Italian journalist and author Antonio Socci is back with more on the neverending drama surrounding what we have termed the Resignationist thesis, the idea that the resignation of Benedict XVI (Joseph Ratzinger) was invalid and he is therefore still the legitimate Pope of the Catholic Church, Francis being an impostor. (For those who don’t know, the position of Novus Ordo Watch is that all “Popes” after Pius XII have been impostors. More on that here.)

In his latest contribution, published March 2, 2014 for the Italian El Libero, Socci reveals the “serious answer” Benedict XVI’s private secretary, “Abp.”… READ MORE

Leaked: Kasper’s Address to Francis & “Cardinals” on Sacraments for Public Adulterers

UPDATE 3/1/14 21:07 GMT: Substantial Excerpts of Kasper Speech in English HERE (click)

This morning the Rorate Caeli blog is reporting that Walter Kasper’s secret discourse on the topic of “Communion for the Divorced-and-Remarried” (as it is euphemistically called, rather than “Communion for Public Adulterers”), which he gave to “Pope” Francis and his fellow-bogus “cardinals” assembled in consistory at the Vatican on Feb. 21, 2014, has been leaked to the press.

The Italian paper Il Foglio has published the text exclusively and has also printed a response by Prof.READ MORE

Socci: “The Plot Thickens”

“Greater Mystery” seen in
Ratzinger Response to Tornielli

Just as we predicted yesterday, not all who give credence to the idea that Benedict XVI’s resignation may have been invalid are convinced by Ratzinger’s reported reaffirmation of its validity to Italian journalist Andrea Tornielli.

“The plot thickens,” Socci says in a Feb. 26, 2014 article posted on his web site:

Socci claims that the questions he raised earlier this month have not been answered but instead the mystery surrounding Benedict’s abdication is deepening.

Socci, author of the book The Fourth Secret of Fatima, criticizes Andrea Tornielli of the Italian daily La Stampa for not releasing the full text of the alleged letter the “Pope emeritus” wrote him, saying that for a story of such magnitude, it would have been appropriate to at least reproduce the letter in its entirety, or better yet, a scanned facsimile copy showing Ratzinger’s signature and letterhead.… READ MORE

Resignationism, R.I.P.

Benedict XVI Speaks: “My Resignation Was Valid”

Bad news for Resignationists — those who believe that Benedict XVI’s resignation was invalid because brought about by force. While it would allow them a convenient, non-sedevacantist way out of the problems with Francis by saying the true Pope is still Benedict, it is Joseph Ratzinger himself now who has explicitly denied the rumors and confirmed that he gave up his claim to the papacy by his own free will.

Responding to a letter written him by the well-known Italian Vatican journalist Andrea Tornielli of La Stampa, the “Pope Emeritus” clearly states:

There is absolutely no doubt regarding the validity of my resignation from the Petrine ministry.

Is Sedevacantism “Pope-Sifting”?

Pope or Nope?

Bp. Donald Sanborn replies to a Common Objection

[from Bp. Sanborn’s In Veritate Blog]

Pope-Sifting

An objection has been made to my recent response to Bishop Williamson. It is an objection frequently made against sedevacantists. It objects that sedevacantists cannot criticize the SSPX for sifting the magisterium, since they themselves are sifting popes. By finding a discrepancy between pre-Vatican II magisterium and post-Vatican II magisterium, sedevacantists merely depose popes whom they find wanting in orthodoxy. But they have no authority to do so. So while sedevacantists object to “magisterium-sifting,” they themselves are involved in “pope-sifting,” which is the same thing.

Sedevacantism:
Bp. Sanborn refutes Bp. Williamson

Bp. Donald Sanborn takes to task Bp. Richard Williamson’s Arguments against Sedevacantism in his Eleison Comments #343 and #344

Bp. Donald Sanborn, rector of the sedevacantist Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida, refutes the anti-sedevacantist arguments made by Bp. Richard Williamson in his recent Eleison Comments nos. 343 and 344, on the Catholic Church’s infallibility.

The powerful and devastating rebuttal, to which Bp. Williamson is welcome to respond, is available as an 8-page PDF file for free download below:

For those who may object that Sedevacantism is simply “Pope-Sifting”, Bp.… READ MORE

Dead on Arrival:
The Remnant
‘s New Strategy on “Pope” Francis

The Remnant Underground: “Pope Francis and the Three Amigos”

Being a Semi-Traditionalist is pretty difficult these days: You have to somehow try to reconcile authentic, traditional Catholic teaching with the idea that the world’s most notorious Modernist, Jorge Bergoglio, is the Pope of the Catholic Church. Squaring the circle will prove easier than this, so it is not surprising that all the various attempts at making Francis into a Catholic cannot but end in failure. The problem is that so much damage is being done in the process, damage to Catholic truth and to a proper understanding of Catholic teaching on the Pope and the Church.… READ MORE

Disagreeing with the Jews did the trick…

The National [Non-]Catholic Reporter blogs about Novus Ordo Watch

The American Über-Modernist newspaper that deceptively calls itself the National Catholic Reporter has published a blog post in which the author, Robert McClory, mentions Novus Ordo Watch and Sedevacantism.

Entitled “Pope Francis and His Really Hostile Critics”, McClory correctly notes that we identify Francis “as a heretic [and] deceiver.” In particular, he takes issue with our post of November 3, 2013, in which we accuse Antipope Francis of heresy for saying that today’s Jews are the Chosen People of God and that the Old Covenant is still valid.… READ MORE

CAUTION! Francis speaks!

HERESY:
Francis says Faith without Works “Is Not [True] Faith”

When a man who does not possess true Faith presumes to lecture the world on what constitutes true Faith, it is not exactly surprising that he should get it wrong. In his “stream of consciousness” homily of Feb. 21, 2014, at the daily Novus Ordo worship service at the Vatican guest house, “Pope” Francis uttered a verbatim denial of Catholic dogma as defined by the Council of Trent in the 16th century.

The Argentinian antipope said: “A faith that does not bear fruit in works is not faith” (source).

Francis: “Studying Fundamental Theology is One of the Most Boring Things on Earth”

Well this isn’t exactly surprising: Francis doesn’t like studying Fundamental Theology. He finds it incredibly boring.

The Rev. Michael Rogers, a blogging Jesuit in Rome, sent out a tweet on Feb. 17, 2014, in which he relates what “Pope Francis” told him in person: “Studying fundamental theology is one of the most boring things on earth.”

Here is a copy of the tweet:

Fundamental Theology is the branch of Sacred Theology that deals with the theological method, apologetics, and ecclesiology.… READ MORE

French SSPX Families Demand Resignation of Superior General Bp. Fellay

Now there is absolutely no denying it: The Society of Saint Pius X is in great turmoil.

On Feb. 15, 2014, the French blog Avec L’Immaculée (“With the Immaculate”) published a lengthy letter written by a group of French SSPX traditionalists who call themselves the Familles Catholiques Fidèles, or “Faithful Catholic Families.” The letter is addressed to the current Superior General of the SSPX, Bp. Bernard Fellay, who has been in his position since 1994.

In this open letter, an unidentified number of “faithful Catholic families” petition Bp.

Benedict XVI delights in “Great Agreement of Views” with Francis

UPDATE 2/26/14: Benedict Confirms Accuracy of Hans Kung Testimony (click here)

Bad news for Resignationists and all those who believe that “Pope Emeritus” Benedict XVI is gravely at odds with his offbeat successor, Jorge Bergoglio. The Italian newspaper La Repubblica reports that in a Jan. 24, 2014 letter Joseph Ratzinger wrote to his former colleague and collaborator Hans Kung, he expressed his satisfaction to be united to “Pope” Francis not only by a “cordial friendship” but also — and this is clearly much more important — by a shared concurrence of points-of-view:

“I am grateful to be joined to Pope Francis by a great agreement of views and a cordial friendship”, the retired Benedict wrote to arch-apostate Hans Kung, who basically denies every Catholic dogma in the book, including that of the Most Holy Trinity, and who announced in 2013 that he is considering committing suicide as he is now advanced in years and suffers from Parkinson’s Disease and doesn’t really see the point of sticking around.… READ MORE

Francis: Traditional Latin Mass just a “Fad” that “doesn’t need much Attention”

It’s just a “fad”, folks…

By way of the Rorate Caeli blog, news is reaching us today of something the “Holy Father” reportedly said Feb. 14, 2014, in an audience with the Novus Ordo bishops of the Czech Republic. The “Archbishop” of Olomouc, Mr. Jan Graubner, relates the following:

When we were discussing those who are fond of the ancient liturgy and wish to return to it, it was evident that the Pope speaks with great affection, attention, and sensitivity for all in order not to hurt anyone.
