Robert Siscoe and The Remnant’s Latest Canon Law Fiasco
As of late, a number of articles critical of the Sedevacantist position have been published by the usual semi-traditionalist opinion outlets — Catholic Family News and The Remnant. While Novus Ordo Watch always makes every effort to provide a response to such articles, in recent months we have been so busy with just keeping up on the daily chaos perpetrated by Francis that such larger projects have been delayed. In addition, we Sedevacantists are greatly outnumbered by adherents to the more popular and much more convenient semi-trad “recognize-and-resist” position, so on that score alone it is always easier for the other side to produce more content and to do so more frequently.
SINCE JORGE MARIO BERGOGLIO’S election in March 2013, I’ve heard from more and more traditional Catholics who are starting to wonder whether sedevacantism might now be the only coherent way to explain the state of affairs in the post-Vatican II church. As I noted in a post late last year:
“After all, how can you reconcile the countless outrageous public statements that Bergoglio has made (no Catholic God, who am I to judge, doctrinal security is not possible, proselytism is nonsense, etc.)
Jorge Bergoglio’s constant and excessive display of “I’m way too humble to be doing this the way my predecessors did” is getting old and annoying. But it is very interesting that his actions are basically screaming, “I am not the Pope!” Of course, even this isn’t enough for the anti-sedevacantist “recognize but resist” crowd, but apparently nothing will ever be. The following news article should be shocking to anyone who considers himself a traditional Catholic and believes Mr. Bergoglio to be the Pope of the Catholic Church:
Schneider blathers nonsense in latest statement: “The Church is strong enough and possesses sufficient means to protect the faithful from the spiritual damage of a heretical pope.” Yeah, the faithful just switch from submitting to the Pope to submitting to a Kazakh auxiliary!
