Don Bruno Unleashed:
Meet Italy’s Eccentric Wedding Singer Priest
His name is Rev. Bruno Maggioni. He is a well-known and popular Novus Ordo priest in northern Italy who is famous for his effusive dancing, clapping, and singing during the wedding ceremonies he officiates — even in church, even before the tabernacle, even while fully vested.
Long-time readers of this blog may remember that we covered ‘Fr.’ Bruno before, back in 2014. Eleven years later, at age 67, he’s still at it.
In fact, just three months ago he appeared on a program on Italy’s public TV channel RAI as the “priest who sings Ricchi e Poveri in church”. (Ricchi e Poveri is a successful Italo-pop group whose 1982 song Mamma Maria is Maggioni’s favorite to sing at weddings.)
About two-and-a-half years ago, Don Bruno participated in the popular televised talent show The Voice of Italy (Senior Edition). That is the same contest the Novus Ordo nun Suor Cristina Scuccia appeared on and won back in 2014. (She left religious life in 2022, despite having already taken perpetual vows.)
Maggioni’s antics are so embarrassingly goofy, they must be seen to be believed. Here are some of his videos:

How a Catholic priest instead ought to conduct and carry himself is wonderfully explained by the words and example of Pope St. Pius X (r. 1903-1914):
But perhaps we should thank Don Bruno. After all, he demonstrates in a very vivid manner what a joke the Novus Ordo priesthood is.
Mamma mia!
