Blasphemous apostate lectures on “living Faith”…

“Papal” Preacher Cantalamessa:
“Traditionalism is the Dead Faith of the Living”

The ever-annoying preacher of the “papal” household, the apostate Capuchin Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, has had plenty to say again in his latest Lenten meditation, delivered on March 26, 2021.

Among the more attention-grabbing lines of his lecture was this one: “A great scholar of Christian dogma of the past century, Jaroslav Pelikan has written that ‘Tradition is the living faith of the dead, traditionalism is the dead faith of the living'” (source).

After so many decades since the 1960s, this kind of talk still delights the likes of Cantalamessa, Bergoglio (“Pope Francis”), and the rest of the Catholic demolition squad in Rome. Although rhetorically clever and superficially appealing, the slogan is nonsense. If Tradition is the living Faith of the dead, so to speak, then Traditionalism would have to be a system or movement that seeks to appreciate, deepen, and perpetuate that living Faith, wouldn’t it? Of course at the end of the day it all depends on how the terms are defined.

Jaroslav Pelikan (1923-2006), by the way, was a Lutheran minister who converted to Eastern Orthodoxy in 1998. The statement quoted by Cantalamessa comes from Pelikan’s 1983 Jefferson Lecture “The Vindication of Tradition”, subsequently published in his eponymous book the following year (p. 65).

It is no wonder that Fr. Raniero loves Pelikan’s quote about Traditionalism, since he detests what is commonly referred to as “Catholic Traditionalism” or “Traditional Catholicism” (the distinctions between different types of Traditionalists, although very important in themselves, are of no consequence for the purposes of our criticism of the Capuchin apostate).

The Novus Ordo religion is antithetical to true (i.e. traditional) Catholicism by its very nature. That is, it derives its life and its strength, its very being, from its opposition to the genuine Catholicism of the ages because that is how it came about to begin with: by a rejection of the Catholic past. The only way it can justify its existence is by a continued repudiation of the timeless Catholic Faith it so ardently detests, and which it was instituted to replace. Hence the Novus Ordo Modernists must, from time to time, renew their rejection of the “Old Faith” and make clear their utter contempt for it.

Aside from the grauitousness of the Pelikan quote Fr. Raniero has so happily made his own — he even repeated it in his live delivery of the lecture (see video here, beginning at the 12:30 mark) –, what really takes the cake is that Cantalamessa, of all people, would have the audacity to criticize others for having a supposedly “dead faith”.

No faith is more dead than that of an apostate, which is exactly what Cantalamessa is. On Good Friday 2002, Fr. Raniero preached to “Pope” John Paul II the incredible blasphemy that God does not merely passively tolerate false religions but positively wills their existence! The apostate Capuchin said verbatim that such religions “are not merely tolerated by God but positively willed by Him as an expression of the inexhaustible richness of His grace and His will for everyone to be saved” (quoted in CNS report here; Italian original of sermon here).

This is obviously outlandish and manifestly contrary even to right reason. It also incurs the anathema pronounced at the Council of Trent: “If anyone shall say that it is not in the power of man to make his ways evil, but that God produces the evil as well as the good works, not only by permission, but also properly and of Himself, so that the betrayal of Judas is no less His own proper work than the vocation of Paul: let him be anathema” (Session 6; Canon 6; Denz. 816).

This staggering and heretical blasphemy was uttered by Cantalamessa long before Francis ever signed the Abu Dhabi declaration on human fraternity, in which it is likewise blasphemously maintained that God desires a diversity of religions. However, even the Abu Dhabi document was not as explicit about it as the Capuchin apostate on Good Friday 2002, which is perhaps why Francis thought he could get away with lying to “Bp.” Athanasius Schneider about it and later to the rest of the world.

So much for the “living Faith” of Cantalamessa & Co.

For the Vatican II Sect to claim to have the “living Faith” that the Traditionalists have abandoned for a “dead Faith”, is absurdity on stilts. Nothing demonstrates this better than a perusal of our periodically published NEWS DIGESTS, which chronicle the ongoing apostasy of the counterfeit church in all its sordid ugliness. Care to take a look?

The reports of Novus Ordo churches closing, being sold and repurposed, and church membership declining at rapid speeds, are ubiquitous, and that is not even a recent phenomenon.

Almost 20 years ago, Kenneth C. Jones’ Index of Leading Catholic Indicators presented statistics that tell an unmistakable story. The decline began right after the close of the Second Vatican Council in 1965, and for good reason: Catholicism had been subverted and replaced with a new religion that no longer understood itself as the only Ark of Salvation and beacon of grace and truth (cf. 1 Tim 3:15). Its primary business was no longer the worship of Almighty God “in spirit and in truth” (Jn 4:24) and the conversion of the world to Christ the King (cf. Mt 28:19-20); it was now busying itself with the “progressive development of peoples” and with accepting heretical sects as part of the Catholic Church, which now merely had the “fullness” of truth, whereas everyone else had a greater or lesser quantity of “elements” of truth.

Instead of clearly preaching supernatural (if often unpleasant) truths, the New Church was now trying to accommodate modern man, losing itself in an insufferable and endless barrage of words capable of different interpretations. Meaningless and confusing slogans such as “we don’t possess the truth; the truth possesses us” were employed to “raze the bastions” (von Balthasar) of the Catholic Church.

There was simply no point anymore in being Catholic or in going to church — if all nice people were going to heaven anyway, why bother suffering through yet another Novus Ordo “Mass”? What had once been the unchangeable Holy Sacrifice was now an unrecognizable liturgical meal service worthy of Sesame Street; and that which just a few years prior had been obligatory to attend every Sunday under pain of mortal sin, was now strictly forbidden and to be avoided like the plague. Instead, people were now “invited” to the “Eucharistic celebration” — but invitations can, as we all know, be declined, and that’s exactly what more and more people began to do. They simply did not recognize the Catholic Church any longer, as Sr. Mary Bernadette, CMRI, explained in a recent video interview about how she experienced the changes of the 1960s:

The “living Faith” of the adherents of the Vatican II religion is splendidly visible, from the lowliest widow to the highest-ranking prelates. Thus, for instance, we see a Vatican “archbishop” declare that the existence of God cannot be proved; we find a “cardinal” claiming that “it is impossible to offend God”; we hear of a “monsignor” who asserts that divorce proves that a true marriage never existed; we are told of a “bishop” who believes our view of sin must change to keep up with our sinful times; and of course we have His Phoniness himself proclaiming that an atheist can go to heaven if he is “good” and that we ought not to fear the Last Judgment.

It goes without saying that the new art and architecture that accompanies this new religion is straight from hell, too, especially in the Vatican. Remember this?

No, it’s not vandalism. This “crucifix” looks like that by design. Where could such an obviously blasphemous cross possibly be put up and accepted by church-goers? Why, in the seminary chapel of the Austrian diocese of Graz-Seckau, of course. Further details about the atrocity can be found here.

The question thus presents itself: Who needs such a religion? It is obvious it has nothing to do with Roman Catholicism but thrives on mocking it. Welcome to the Modernist New Religion of Vatican II, which will soon be the victim of its own “success” and disappear forever, and with it all those who smugly prided themselves on having “overcome” the true, pre-Vatican II Catholicism.

In 1907, Pope St. Pius X observed about the Modernists he was exposing:

But it is pride which exercises an incomparably greater sway over the soul to blind it and lead it into error, and pride sits in Modernism as in its own house, finding sustenance everywhere in its doctrines and lurking in its every aspect. It is pride which fills Modernists with that self-assurance by which they consider themselves and pose as the rule for all. It is pride which puffs them up with that vainglory which allows them to regard themselves as the sole possessors of knowledge, and makes them say, elated and inflated with presumption, “We are not as the rest of men,” and which, lest they should seem as other men, leads them to embrace and to devise novelties even of the most absurd kind.

(Pope Pius X, Encyclical Pascendi Dominici, n. 40)

It is the same pride, we might add, that makes Bergoglio’s wrecking crew proclaim with disdain: “Traditionalism is the dead faith of the living.”

True Catholics, on the other hand, are happy to join in with St. Pius X in proclaiming with confidence: “Indeed, the true friends of the people are neither revolutionaries, nor innovators: they are traditionalists” (St. Pius X, Apostolic Letter Notre Charge Apostolique).
