Discernment is calling: Jesuit Novus Ordo Priest calls for Legalization of Abortion in “Complex” Cases!

Long-time readers of this blog may recall that just over two years ago, in July of 2018, we reported on a Jesuit Novus Ordo priest in the Dominican Republic, “Fr.” Mario Serrano Marte (pictured above), who was publicly calling for the legalization of the slaughter of the unborn (commonly known as abortion).

It would be an exaggeration to say he got a slap on the wrist at the time — it was more like a caress. According to a report on the scandal by the national newspaper Diario Libre, the then-auxiliary “bishop” of the diocese in which Serrano was working, Jesús Castro Marte, stated that what the Jesuit had said in favor of abortion rights was merely his “personal position” and did not reflect the stance of the Society of Jesus. Castro intrepidly called on Serrano to “reflect on what he has said”, which is contradicted by science (life beginning at conception), the pretend-bishop argued, and so he should stop “confusing” Catholics.

How comforting to know that in the Vatican II Church one can simply have a “different opinion” on murder and propagate that to bring about political change, and is then merely told to basically “think about it again” and “stop confusing people”! No wonder Francis just promoted that “bishop” by giving him his own diocese!

With that kind of reaction by the local diocese, it is no wonder that “Fr.” Serrano would be encouraged to persist in his cruel position and continue to promote abortion “rights” in his country — which is exactly what he has been doing.

On Aug. 20, 2020, Serrano posted messages on Facebook and Twitter once again calling for the legalization of abortion. Here they are, in the original Spanish (translation further below):

The Facebook comment is longer because it does not have a character limit like Twitter, and it includes verbatim the entire Twitter comment. The translation of his complete message is the following:

Again in the Dominican Republic, the issue of decriminalization of the termination of pregnancy is raised in three clearly-defined cases [rape, fetal deformity, and life of the mother]. It is a proposal based on the ethical principles of justice and freedom. Let us support the proposal and fight to avoid these critical circumstances. Our Christian vocation invites us to accompany critical and complex life situations with an attitude of discernment of concrete cases, and with a great sense of charity, justice and freedom.

Note well: The abominable Jesuit is using Francis’ own logic to justify his evil idea: “complex life situations with an attitude of discernment of concrete cases” — that is Bergoglianism all the way, infamously expressed in the “papal” exhortation Amoris Laetitia with regard to the “divorced-and-remarried”. Once you can justify one intrinsic evil — adultery — on the grounds that “for now [it] is the most generous response which can be given to God, and … it is what God himself is asking amid the concrete complexity of one’s limits, while yet not fully the objective ideal” (Amoris Laetitia, n. 303), then there is no reason why this same infernal excuse couldn’t be used for any other intrinsic evil, including abortion. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

It won’t do to argue that this presbyter wants abortion to be legal “only” in three of the so-called “hard cases.” If there can be three exceptions, then there can be eight, or 22, or 106. The reason abortion is wrong is that it is the direct killing of an innocent human being, which God prohibits in the Fifth Commandment. But that prohibition is not dependent upon how the child was conceived, whether the child suffers from a deformity, or whether the mother’s life is endangered by the pregnancy — because in all those cases abortion is still the direct killing of an innocent human being, and that is intrinsically wrong. Of course a woman who finds herself in such terribly difficult circumstances must be shown great compassion and assisted corporally and spiritually in all possible morally licit ways — but abortion is always and absolutely out of the question.

Also, the fact that Francis himself opposes abortion — well, at least that’s what he says, though his actions, or lack thereof, tell a different story — is completely irrelevant here, because with his false and heretical-blasphemous teaching in Amoris Laetitia, he has endorsed the foundational premises that logically necessitate that the conclusion Serrano is drawing be considered acceptable and legitimate. And Francis knows all about logic and premises! Welcome to Bergoglian situation ethics!

By the way: As he happily notes in the header on his Facebook page, “Fr.” Serrano is a socio-pastoral delegate for the Conference of Jesuit Provincials of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Sociopathic delegate would be a better title.
