Francis’ “Apostolic” Commissioner over the Franciscans of the Immaculate, Fidenzio Volpi, is Dead

The Province of St. Charles of the Capuchin Friars Minor in Lombardy has announced the passing away of “Fr.” Fidenzio Volpi, the “Apostolic” Commissioner who had been tyrannizing the Novus Ordo Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate for suspicion of Catholicism due to their traditional bent in liturgical matters and some writings mildly critical of the Second Vatican Council.

Mr. Volpi had recently been hospitalized after suffering a stroke. He died reportedly on June 7, 2015, at 11:00 am. He was 75.

Here are some posts with more details:

Pope’s Crackdown on Order Alarms Traditionalists
By Nicole Winfield (AP)

[Excerpts taken from ]

 — Pope Francis may have been named Time magazine’s Person of the Year, but he has come under scathing criticism from a growing number of traditionalist Catholics for cracking down on a religious order that celebrates the old Latin Mass. The case has become a flashpoint in the ideological tug-of-war going on in the Catholic Church over Francis’ revolutionary agenda, which has thrilled progressives and alarmed some conservatives.

The tyranny “Pope” Francis has unleashed upon the vigorous and growing order of the Franciscans of the Immaculate (who adopt the so-called “indult” position of trying to be traditional Catholics yet only with the “permission” of the Modernist hierarchy, to which they submit), whose only “crime” has been to prefer the pre-Vatican II liturgical books to those of the Novus Ordo, is coming to a head.

Finally, for the first time, the “Apostolic Commissioner” Fidenzio Volpi, OFM Cap., de facto now the head of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, has officially admitted to the real reason for the far-reaching interference with the order when “Pope” Francis issued a blanket prohibition against their use of the 1962 Missal (“Traditional Latin Mass”) on July 11, 2013: They were “crypto-Lefebvrian” or at least “traditionalist.” (See our original coverage of the case here.) Of course this is not at all surprising, but what’s remarkable here is that it has now actually been admitted, as the news story below shows.

UPDATE 12/8/13 20:38 GMT

The “Apostolic Commissioner” Volpi has now officially admitted that the real reason for the suppression of the 1962 Missal for the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate is that they are “traditionalist” and perhaps even “crypto-Lefebvrian.” SEE STORY HERE.

UPDATE 8/1/13 00:35 GMT

According to Vaticanist Giuseppe Nardi, it was a mere 6 members of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate — out of a total of 800 — who accomplished the prohibition of the 1962 Missal for their order by the Vatican.
