Blasphemous Art in Linz Cathedral:
Adoration of ‘The New Family’

For at least the third time this year, Immaculate Conception Cathedral in the diocese of Linz, Austria, has been the site of revolting blasphemy, legitimized and promoted under cover of its status as ‘art’.
Frequent visitors of this blog will recall the disgusting ‘Virgin Mary Giving Birth’ statue that was displayed in a side chapel of the cathedral in late June, followed by an absurd installation of pink hoses hanging from the ceiling that were draped over a balcony and the staircase leading up to the pulpit, under the title ‘They Call Me Mama’.
The latest ‘art’ exhibit, which just ended, is called ‘The New Family’. It is the creation of one Bernadette Huber (b. 1962) and was displayed for weeks in the cathedral’s western side chapel, the same space which had featured the ‘Virgin Mary’ statue back in June.
The diocese of Linz has been enthusiastic about the installation, advertising it on its official web site and even offering three guided tours of it, led by its own curator, Martina Gelsinger.
The following is an article published by the diocese to ‘explain’ the scandalous artwork:
The installation shows an oversized cell phone, which is staged as a contemporary cult object and fetish [sic] on a pedestal in the middle of the art space (western tower chapel). On the cell phone screen, Huber shows a series of around 100 images. They include depictions of the Virgin Mary from the cathedral, works of art history from churches, museums, and collections, role models and role assignments related to the family, clichés from everyday life, advertising, and social media, images from the artist’s family history, as well as a wide range of diverse representations of family constellations and approaches to life.
A red cushion before the pedestal bears the inscription “Please kneel here” and invites visitors to interact. Kneeling triggers the accompanying sound installation, which adds a deep, constant tone to the constantly changing images.
The installation allows visitors to immerse themselves in a veritable plethora of images that focus on the theme of family and women from the artist’s perspective. Her feminist perspective, which is closely related to art-historically patriarchal role models, opens up new levels of interpretation. Familiar and classically handed-down material suddenly touches us in a very contemporary way.

Note in particular the underlined portion. What is euphemistically called “diverse representations of family constellations and approaches to life” (diverse Darstellungen von Familienkonstellationen und Lebenskonzepten) is simply code for perverted pseudo-families, such as a sodomite couple with a child. The following thumbnail (taken from this Christkönigtum YouTube video) shows some more of the digital images that were part of the ‘New Family’ installation:
The photo at the top of this blog post shows Huber kneeling in front of the ‘cell phone’, admiring an image showing a nude female body, onto which her head has been photoshopped. Indeed, judging also by her other work, Huber seems quite fond of nudity and lewdness, something that will surprise only few. We will spare you a link to her web site.
As for the dates of the installation, it seems even the diocese itself wasn’t entirely clear on when it was to begin or end. Different dates are mentioned on different pages, ranging from a start date of Oct. 31 through an end date of Nov. 29, 2024. In any case, it is definitely over now.
The ‘New Family’ installation is the last in the Feminist program series DonnaStage, a sequence of contemporary ‘artwork’ meant to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the cathedral, construction of which lasted from 1862 until 1924. The main focus of the deliberately provocative art was supposed to be an ‘artistic’ reinterpretation of the family in view of “non-binary gender identities and plural family constellations”, as the informational brochure for DonnaStage puts it (p. 3).
There really isn’t much to say that hasn’t already been said on this web site about such profanation of a sacred edifice that was once built for the purpose of worshipping the Most Holy Trinity.
In 1903, Pope St. Pius X noted that one of the most salient characteristics of the Antichrist movement which has been in operation since the first Good Friday, is man’s self-worship in the holy place:
…there is good reason to fear lest this great perversity may be as it were a foretaste, and perhaps the beginning of those evils which are reserved for the last days; and that there may be already in the world the “Son of Perdition” of whom the Apostle speaks [2 Thessalonians 2:3]. Such, in truth, is the audacity and the wrath employed everywhere in persecuting religion, in combating the dogmas of the faith, in brazen effort to uproot and destroy all relations between man and the Divinity! While, on the other hand, and this according to the same apostle is the distinguishing mark of Antichrist, man has with infinite temerity put himself in the place of God, raising himself above all that is called God; in such wise that although he cannot utterly extinguish in himself all knowledge of God, he has contemned [=mocked] God’s majesty and, as it were, made of the universe a temple wherein he himself is to be adored. “He sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself as if he were God” [2 Thess 2:2].
(Pope St. Pius X, Encyclical E Supremi, n. 5; underlining added.)
By the way: The man ultimately responsible for all the blasphemous exhibits in Linz is ‘Bishop’ Manfred Scheuer (b. 1955), who was appointed to his current post by ‘Pope’ Francis in 2015. It is the same ‘Bp.’ Scheuer, by the way, who also authorizes the Holy Hydra events that profane different churches in his territory on an annual basis, as we reported on June 15 of this year.
We know from Divine Revelation: “Be not deceived, God is not mocked” (Gal 6:7). Alas, some people will only learn the hard way.
