Changing attitudes first, eh?

Leo XIV Warmly Receives ‘Married’ Sodomite Couple in Audience

Sometimes events unfold so rapidly that the semi-trads’ expert commentary is refuted by the time it gets published. The last 24-48 hours are a good example of that.

Just as the Rorate Caeli blog was trying to pin the Nov. 8 public Novus Ordo confirmation of a ‘married’ sodomite celebrity (in the presence of his ‘husband’ as well as the infamous Hellboy James Martin) at St. Paul the Apostle’s ‘Catholic’ Church in New York on Vatican II and ‘Pope’ Francis only — while being conspicuously silent regarding Francis’ successor — ‘Pope’ Leo XIV essentially said, “Hold my beer.”

The evening of Nov. 12, 2025, Rorate Caeli published “A Vatican II & Francis Moment: Homosexual TV Presenter is Confirmed in NYC Church in the presence of his ‘husband'”. The author remarked: “These are the fruits of the general looseness of spirits promoted by Vatican II and especially of Francis-approved document on blessings, Fiducia Supplicans.” That’s a fair comment as far as it goes, but there is a deafening silence as regards Robert Prevost (Leo XIV), who, after all, is on record saying that when it comes to changing doctrine on ‘LGBTQ’ issues, it is important to change attitudes first.

And so he is already leading by example. That very same day, Nov. 12, progressivist ‘Catholic’ would-be politician Christopher Hale broke the following story on his Letters from Leo blog:

And indeed, the contents of this story are explosive:

At a private Vatican audience with Archbishop José Gomez of Los Angeles this past month, Pope Leo XIV made a bit of quiet history.

Amid the formalities, the first American pope found himself laughing over a Wordle joke shared with an openly gay married couple from California.

The two men — Alex Capecelatro, a renowned tech entrepreneur and CEO of Josh.ai, and his husband Brian D. Stevens, a celebrated Catholic philanthropist — were part of Gomez’s delegation.

When Pope Leo learned “we are married,” Alex later said on social media, he received them with unmistakable warmth and kindness, not a hint of hesitation.

For Capecelatro, who wasn’t raised Catholic, the moment was especially heartwarming alongside Brian, a devout [sic] Catholic.

Speaking with an English-speaking pope whose message is unity and peace, they felt fully welcome in the Church’s embrace.

More importantly, Capecelatro and Stevens shared with Pope Leo how much Fr. James Martin, SJ’s outreach to LGBTQ Catholics means to them.

The pope nodded approvingly at the mention of that ministry. Unity and peace aren’t just slogans for Leo XIV; they’re a call to welcome those long at the margins.

Sorry, Rorate Caeli, but what happened at St. Paul’s Church in Manhattan on Nov. 8 was not just a “Vatican II and Francis moment” but also very much a Leo moment. Just like Francis, Leo wants attitudes to change, because he knows that once the attitudes are changed, it doesn’t matter what the doctrine is.

On Nov. 13, Life Site reported on the scandal:

A Pope’s duty is to lead people on the Way of the Cross to Heaven, not to reassure them with smiles and caresses on their way to hell. Not that Leo actually is Pope, but he claims to be one.

It wasn’t that long ago that even the false popes of the Vatican II Church refused to receive the so-called ‘divorced-and-remarried’ on account of the scandal it would cause, clearly giving the impression that adulterous pseudo-spouses are accepted as legitimate. After 12 years of Francis, which included the blessing (!) of an adulterous union, it is now no big deal, apparently, for his Our-Father-in-Latin-singing successor to receive two men who are proud of habitually committing unspeakable acts with one another, so much so that they have been willing to mock holy matrimony, which God has instituted for the preservation of the human race.

What makes the situation even more risqué, visually speaking, is that the two sodomites are visibly not at all in the same age group. Stevens might as well be the father, perhaps even grandfather, of Capecelatro. The two men were part of the entourage of ‘Abp.’ José Gomez Velasco of Los Angeles, an Opus Dei man who is typically considered conservative. The meeting with Leo took place on Oct. 22.

Along with all this news comes the ‘heroic’ intervention of ‘Bp.’ Joseph Strickland (forced to retire early from his diocese of Tyler, Texas), who called out James Martin for the Nov. 8 scandal at the plenary meeting of the USCCB (American Novus Ordo bishops’ conference). But, as Louie Verrecchio argues, “The bar for what many Catholics consider episcopal heroism is so low right now that it would take a world class limbo dancer to slither beneath it.”

And to make matters worse for those who thought Prevost was going to bring about that much-anticipated ‘return to Tradition’, it looks like the new ‘Pope’ is about to double down:

Leo XIV just turned 70 years old in September. Chances are he will have a long reign, much longer than The Remnant will be able to keep the recognize-and-resist status going.
