‘Mother Earth’ must have been hungry…

PHOTOS Surface Showing ROBERT PREVOST (LEO XIV) Participating in PACHAMAMA Worship Ritual in Brazil in 1995

[UPDATE 20-MAR-2026: Watch video presentation of evidence here]

No, this isn’t fake news. No, the evidence wasn’t AI-generated. No, there are no exaggerations here. No, it’s not a translation issue. Yes, it really was Robert Francis Prevost (the one who now claims to be ‘Pope Leo XIV’). Yes, it really was the Andean earth goddess Pachamama (aka Gaia or Mother Earth). And no, there’s no misunderstanding here.

John-Henry Westen of Life Site News just released a big article:

Westen writes in a tagline: “Exclusive to LifeSiteNews, this explosive revelation will feature prominently in Fr. Charles Murr’s forthcoming book on the new pontiff.”

What Westen did not know is that Novus Ordo Watch, too, has been working on this story behind the scenes, since last year, but had not yet released the information because not all i’s had been dotted and not all t’s had been crossed yet. We wanted to be absolutely sure that this was going to be an airtight, slam-dunk case against Robert Francis Prevost.

For those who are not aware of what this means: It means the current ‘Pope’ engaged in an act of blatant idolatry — a mortal sin against the First Commandment — while attending a conference on ‘eco-theology’ in São Paulo, Brazil, in January of 1995. At the time, Prevost was working as a missionary in Peru for the Augustinians, where he had been on assignment since the 1980s.

In his post, Westen provides confirmation via Fr. Murr regarding the identity of Prevost as being one of the participants at the Pachamama ritual: “Three Augustinian priests have now independently confirmed to Fr. Murr that Robert Prevost is clearly visible among the kneeling participants in the central photograph. Although none of the three were present at the 1995 ritual itself, they immediately and unmistakably recognized their confrere from the published image.”

Since Life Site has broken this news, we will now go ahead and, in this post, release the first part of our research on this.

By God’s holy Providence, some time ago someone brought to our attention a book that was published in Spanish in 1996 by OALA (Organización de Agustinos de Latino América), the Organization of Augustinians of Latin America. This book, we were assured, contained a photograph showing people engaging in a worship ceremony of Pachamama, otherwise known as Mother Earth or Gaia, and among the worshipers was Father Robert F. Prevost, OSA, the man who on May 8 of last year became Pope (or so the world thinks).

As tempting as it was to trust the scanned pages provided to us as evidence, there was no question we had to do independent verification first, and so we obtained a hardcopy of this book from a used book dealer overseas. In this post, we present and document the evidence.

Book title: Ecoteología: Una Perspectiva desde San Agustín
Compiler: Juan J. Lydon, OSA
Year of publication: 1996

Location of publisher: Quito, Ecuador

Here are the relevant images.

First, the front and back of the book:

On page 10, we find this (image annotated by us; click image for larger version):

The caption beneath the photo reads: “Celebration of the Rite of Pachamama (Mother Earth), which is an agricultural rite offered by the cultures of the South-Andean region in Peru and Bolivia” (translation Life Site‘s).

For those who are skeptical that this is really Robert Prevost, let’s compare these photos with other, known photos of Prevost taken around the same time:

The book Ecoteologia contains the “Proceedings of the Fourth Symposium on the Reinterpretation of St. Augustine’s Thought from a Latin American Perspective (São Paulo, January 23–28, 1995)”, as is noted on the inside title page (original wording: “Actas del IV Simposio sobre la relectura del pensamiento de San Agustín desde América Latina (São Paulo, 23 – 28 de enero, 1995″).

The contents of the book were compiled by the Canadian Rev. John J. Lydon McHugh, O.S.A.:

A recent photo of Lydon with then-‘Bishop’ Prevost can be seen here.

There are other photos contained in the book, and Prevost can be seen in more than one of them. For example:

In the photo above, printed at the very beginning of the book, Prevost can be seen on the center-right, with his face partially blocked.

In this photo, found in the book on page XX, Prevost is happily holding hands with the presider during a Novus Ordo worship service.

But it gets better.

While doing extensive research on this matter, we came across the YouTube channel of the OALA (Organization of Augustinians in Latin America), and, by God’s holy Providence, found a video there containing more images of the Pachamama worship ritual, and in full color (annotated by us):

The video from which these screenshots were taken is the following (direct link here; we have a copy saved in case it gets removed):

.
The 1995 symposium on ‘eco-theology’ was the fourth in a series of conferences on ‘re-reading’ St. Augustine “from a Latin American perspective”. The prior three symposia had taken place, respectively, in Lima, Peru, in 1985 (on St. Augustine and Liberation), in Cochabamba, Bolivia, in 1989 (on Practice and Contemplation), and in Moroleón, Mexico, in 1992 (on Inculturation).

The Ecoteologia book that contains the photos of Prevost worshipping Pachamama is a Spanish translation from the original Portuguese. The Portuguese edition was published by Paulus in São Paulo in 1996. It does not, however, contain any photos; only the Spanish edition does (and it also contains more text).

Here is a scanned image of the original Portuguese version — entitled Ecoteologia Agostiniana — followed by publication info found on the first page inside the book. We are providing this information to document that we really did do our research on this and were looking to present the facts as completely as possible:

One argument we will certainly hear now from Leo XIV’s apologists is that the pagan worship ritual in which he participated took place over 30 years ago. That was so long ago! Perhaps Prevost repented of this and went to confession?

Yes, that is possible, of course; very possible. But if so, then it is now incumbent upon the ‘Pope’ to let the world know that he has long repented of this evil and done penance for it, and that he now denounces what he did back then. That’s because it is now a public scandal that must be publicly repaired.

However, this is not likely to happen because Leo’s worship of Pachamama in 1995 jibes with his very recent Jan. 19, 2026 appointment of Sofía Nicolasa Chipana Quispe as a consultant for the Vatican Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue. According to the well-informed InfoVaticana site, Chipana Quispe is “[a]ssociated with indigenous, feminist, and decolonial currents, [and] she maintains that she promotes ‘prayer with Pachamama’; she also cites a statement from 2025: ‘We are not Pachamama… we belong to Pachamama'”.

Clearly, even 31 years later, Leo XIV isn’t terribly opposed to the Mother Earth goddess; and neither are certain other high-profile figures in his false church. Remember?

We have more research to share on this, including what the Ecoteologia book says about Pachamama; but we will keep it for a follow-up post.
