Author chooses to reveal himself…

Author of The Dictator Pope revealed:
‘Marcantonio Colonna’ is Henry Sire

The author of the explosive book The Dictator Pope: The Inside Story of the Francis Papacy has now been revealed: It is historian Henry J. A. Sire.

The disclosure is not a “leak” or the fruit of an investigation; rather, the author chose to reveal his own name for the forthcoming second edition of his book, this time to be published in a print edition by Regnery Publishing. Sire had hitherto used the pen name Marcantonio Colonna but had said from the beginning that he knew he would eventually be unmasked anyway.

The publisher’s official description of the author states:

Marcantonio Colonna is the pen name of Henry Sire (H. J. A. Sire), an author and historian. Sire was born in 1949 in Barcelona to a family of French ancestry. He was educated in England at the Jesuits’ centuries-old Stonyhurst College and at Exeter College, Oxford, where he gained an honors degree in Modern History. He is the author of six books on Catholic history and biography, including one on the famous English Jesuit, writer, and philosopher Father Martin D’Arcy, SJ. The Dictator Pope is the fruit of Henry Sire’s four-year residence in Rome from 2013 to 2017. During that time he became personally acquainted with many figures in the Vatican, including Cardinals and Curial officials, together with journalists specializing in Vatican affairs.

The first edition of The Dictator Pope had been released only in electronic format (see our blog post here) and quickly became a top seller on Amazon. The updated and expanded second edition will be released on Monday, April 23. It can be pre-ordered here:

The Dictator Pope: The Inside Story of the Francis Papacy
by H.J.A. Sire

In 2015, Angelico Press published Sire’s Phoenix from the Ashes: The Making, Unmaking, and Restoration of Catholic Tradition.

The official Twitter account of The Dictator Pope is @DictatorPope, where the author has been tweeting some very informative and explosive content. Sire is evidently a traditionalist of the indult/SSPX/recognize-and-resist stripe.
