Leaked: Kasper’s Address to Francis & “Cardinals” on Sacraments for Public Adulterers
UPDATE 3/1/14 21:07 GMT: Substantial Excerpts of Kasper Speech in English HERE (click)
This morning the Rorate Caeli blog is reporting that Walter Kasper’s secret discourse on the topic of “Communion for the Divorced-and-Remarried” (as it is euphemistically called, rather than “Communion for Public Adulterers”), which he gave to “Pope” Francis and his fellow-bogus “cardinals” assembled in consistory at the Vatican on Feb. 21, 2014, has been leaked to the press.
The Italian paper Il Foglio has published the text exclusively and has also printed a response by Prof. Roberto de Mattei. At this point the exclusive is available online in Italian only as a downloadable PDF file (link kindly provided by Rorate Caeli):

Il Foglio announces the publication of the document here. Some news sites had already covered various excerpts from the speech, which as a whole, the Vatican had deliberately kept from publication:
- “Cardinal outlines Possible Paths to Communion for Divorced, Remarried”
- “Kasper’s Proposal for Remarried Divorcees”
- “Cardinal” Kasper proposes Adultery as “Second-Tier Marriage”
It will surely only be a matter of time before the document is translated in its entirety into other languages. We will post these links, when they become available, as an update to this blog page, so check back here soon.
The German Fr. Walter “Cardinal” Kasper, formerly the Vatican’s Chief Ecumenist, is a Modernist apostate through and through. He denies the bodily Resurrection of Christ (as does his fellow-countryman “Cardinal” Gerhard Muller), says Catholic dogma can be “dumb”, questions the Divinity of Christ, denies the miracles of Christ as historical facts, and so forth, ad nauseam.
The following links will give you a good idea of what Kasper believes (as well as several other high-ranking Novus Ordo “authorities”):
- The Theses and Beliefs of Walter Kasper
- Novus Ordo Deniers of the Resurrection: Kasper, Muller, Ratzinger
Kasper’s address on this topic comes on the heels of the German “Archdiocese” of Freiburg single-handedly decreeing the admission of public adulterers to the Novus Ordo sacraments (see our story here).
At this point, our prediction is that eventually, Francis will decree, in accordance with Kasper’s proposal, that the Novus Ordo Church will “tolerate” public adulterers’ reception of the “sacraments” in order — they will argue disingenuously — not to turn them away from Christ. They will justify this as not being in conflict with Church law or Church teaching, inasmuch as the new policy will not be one of acceptance or approval but merely one of toleration. Thus they will try to square the circle and weasel themselves out of the patent contradiction, since of course anyone who is in the state of mortal sin cannot benefit from Holy Communion, but rather, is adding the frightening sin of sacrilege to the sin of adultery.
The true Catholic position is clear: People who have abandoned their true marriage and now have joined a new union, with or without a civil divorce, are committing adultery. Like any other sin, this too can be forgiven, but only with the necessary repentance and firm resolution to amend one’s life. While Novus Ordo Watch does not pretend to be competent in the casuistic details of such situations and what precisely moral theology requires such individuals to do, it is nevertheless our understanding that, if a new union has resulted in children who are still under the care of their (illegitimate) parents, it is permissible (and probably quite necessary) for the parents to remain together — however, only under the condition that they live celibately as brother and sister, aware of the fact that they are not married to one another. This is surely a very difficult cross to bear, but it is a necessary one, if one wishes to love God and be admitted to an eternity of bliss in Heaven, rather than face the eternal fires of hell (see Lk 14:26-27; 1 Cor 6:9).
We would like to emphasize, also, that we certainly have great sympathy for people who, for whatever reason, very much desire to live as good and holy Catholics but find themselves in such an unhappy situation where they now realize that their union is not a valid marriage and they’re unable to fix the problem. All of us are sinners and many of us have a very sinful past, out of which we have been lifted only by the undeserved grace of Almighty God. The past is not the issue; it is the present and the future that matter.
We therefore encourage all who are in an illegitimate union that has produced children and cannot reasonably be abandoned without causing grave harm to the children, to take heart and seek spiritual help so that they can repent and amend their lives in the way Holy Mother Church wishes for them to do. If anyone is in need of such help, please contact Novus Ordo Watch for referral to competent confessors.
The teaching of Our Blessed Lord is clear: “But I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, excepting for the cause of fornication, maketh her to commit adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery” (Mt 5:32). Here we must not misconstrue our Lord’s words — He does not say that it is licit to enter a second union if the first spouse has committed adultery; He merely says that in the case of adultery, it is permitted for the spouses to separate (and even this probably only if the children are not harmed by it).
When the Lord Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman at the well, He preached the Gospel to her mercifully, but He did not gloss over the fact that she was living shamefully in an adulterous union:
Jesus saith to her: Go, call thy husband, and come hither. The woman answered, and said: I have no husband. Jesus said to her: Thou hast said well, I have no husband: For thou hast had five husbands: and he whom thou now hast, is not thy husband. This thou hast said truly. The woman saith to him: Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
(John 4:16-19)
In thinking about all these matters, let us never forget these holy and perfectly true words: “He whom thou now hast, is not thy husband.”
