Joseph Brennan joins Anglican pseudo-bishops in ordination…

Novus Ordo Bishop of Fresno Co-Consecrates Anglican Bishop!

[UPDATE April 23: We have released a short video on the matter here.]

The Rev. Dr. Gregory Kimura is a cleric of the so-called Episcopal Church in the United States. The Episcopal Church is part of the Anglican Communion and is basically the American branch of the Church of England, which was founded by King Henry VIII in response to Pope Clement VII’s refusal to pretend that his certainly-valid marriage to Catherine of Aragon was null.

A few days ago, Dr. Kimura became a bishop in the Episcopal religion. The ‘ordination and consecration’ ceremony, as it is called, took place on Apr. 18 at St. James Episcopal Cathedral in Fresno, California, seat of the Episcopal diocese of San Joaquin:

In 1896, Pope Leo XIII declared that the ordinations of Anglicans are invalid, and he laid out the reasons why, from their own praxis and from sacramental theology:

Pope Leo’s decision regarding the nullity of Anglican orders is widely considered to be infallible, and even the Vatican II Church officially considers Anglican ordinations to be invalid.

Normally, we would not care about what happens in the Anglican-Episcopal religion; but in the case of Kimura’s ordination, we have good reason to concern ourselves with it, because the Novus Ordo (‘Roman Catholic’) bishop of the diocese of Fresno, Joseph Vincent Brennan, attended the ceremony. He did so not only as a passive bystander but actively participated in it, and this not merely in the ceremony generally but also quite specifically in the putative conferral of the sacrament by joining the co-consecrating bishops of the Episcopal sect in pronouncing the formula of ordination! Participation in the rite of a false religion doesn’t get anymore ‘active’ than that!

In the Roman Catholic Church, such behavior is strongly condemned as communicatio in sacris (“communication in sacred things”). The 1917 Code of Canon Law states: “It is not licit for the faithful by any manner to assist actively or to have a part in the sacred [rites] of non-Catholics” (Canon 1258 §1). The immediate consequence of violating this canon, which obviously constitutes a mortal sin, is that the offender incurs an automatic suspicion of heresy: “Whoever in any manner willingly and knowingly helps in the promulgation of heresy, or who communicates in things divine with heretics against the prescription of Canon 1258, is suspected of heresy” (Canon 2316).

Thus far the Catholic reality of the matter. Of course ‘Bishop’ Brennan is part of the Vatican II Church, which uses a different Code of Canon Law, promulgated in 1983 by ‘Pope’ John Paul II. But even that Code, although scandalous, impious, and favoring heresy in many ways, does not allow for joining Anglicans in ordaining a bishop: “Catholic ministers administer the sacraments licitly to Catholic members of the Christian faithful alone, who likewise receive them licitly from Catholic ministers alone…” (Canon 844 §1).

Here are some photos showing the prime offending moments, when Novus Ordo bishop Brennan — check out his official photo for visual comparison — joined the Episcopal bishops (many of them female!) in putatively bestowing the sacrament of holy orders (episcopal consecration/ordination) on Rev. Greg Kimura:

In the above picture (source), we see Bp. Brennan joining the other non-Catholics as they prepare to ordain a new bishop for the Anglican-Episcopal sect.

In the above shot, we find Brennan bowing his head and extending his hands as the others lay hands on the ordinand (directly or indirectly).

In this third picture, we see Brennan, with hands still extended, join in the consecration prayer that, according to Anglican sacramental theology, makes the ordinand into a bishop.

The entire ceremony, from which some of the pictures above are screenshots, is available to watch on YouTube, courtesy of the Episcopal diocese:

The formula of ordination that was recited by all the pictured individuals together, is based on the official text found in the Book of Common Prayer (2016 edition), and reads as follows:

Therefore, Father, make Gregory a bishop in your Church. Pour out upon him the power of your princely Spirit, whom you bestowed upon your beloved Son Jesus Christ, with whom he endowed the apostles, and by whom your Church is built up in every place, to the glory and unceasing praise of your Name. Amen.

(Source: Booklet The Ordination and Consecration of The Reverend Doctor Gregory Kimura by the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin, p. 24.)

If these words seem somewhat familiar, it is because they are very similar to the formula used by the Vatican II Church, which in 1968 ‘Pope’ Paul VI ordered to be used henceforth:

So now pour out upon this chosen one that power which is from you, the governing Spirit whom you gave to your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, the Spirit given by him to the holy apostles, who founded the Church in every place to be your temple for the unceasing glory and praise of your name.

(Source: Antipope Paul VI, Apostolic Constitution Pontificalis Romani)

The only real difference is that the Anglican form is actually less problematic than the Novus Ordo wording, because at least it spells out clearly what the “princely Spirit” is supposed to accomplish, namely, to “make [him] a bishop in your Church”. This lack of necessary clarity in the essential form of the sacrament renders the 1968 rite of ordination of Paul VI not merely doubtful but clearly invalid:

Thus it turns out that Brennan himself is not a valid bishop, which adds a certain irony to the whole liturgical freak show in which he participated.

But regardless, the focus of the present post is the fact that the man who is supposedly the Roman Catholic bishop of Fresno joined a group of Protestants in the putative conferral of the sacrament of episcopal consecration!

Will this have disciplinary consequences for Brennan once the Vatican gets wind of his deed? Hardly, for the practical reality on the ground in Rome is not much different:

No one would say that ‘Bp.’ Brennan is secretly working for the Lefebvrist Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), but if he were, he couldn’t have done them a better favor. After all, it will simply not be credible for the Vatican to scream “excommunication!” at the Lefebvrists for consecrating mere sacramental bishops for their own organization, all the while the same Roman authorities don’t have a problem with a diocesan ordinary actively and directly participating in the heretical-schismatic ordination ceremony of an Episcopal pseudo-bishop for their false religion!

It should be enough to know that the Episcopal Church is a Protestant sect to avoid it like the plague; but more than that, it is also notoriously pro-abortion, pro-perversion, and feminist. In fact, the video of the Kimura ordination shows, in a fraction of its very first second, the so-called ‘Pride Shield’ version of the logo of the Episcopal Church in the top left:

The colors of the perverts’ rainbow, as well as the stripes of the ‘transgender people’ (of color!) movement, are clearly visible. There is no sexual perversion the Anglican religion doesn’t in some way approve of, support, celebrate, or at least tolerate.

Although one is left to wonder just what religion ‘Bishop’ Brennan actually adheres to, it is abundantly clear that it isn’t the Roman Catholic religion to which he claims to subscribe.

As we said, don’t expect Leo XIV to intervene. If anything, the ‘Pope’ might do for the new Episcopal ‘bishop’ Kimura the same thing he did for the Archlaywoman of Canterbury, Sarah Mullally: send a note of “prayerful greetings” and “invoke upon you the blessings of Almighty God as you take up your high responsibilities. May the Holy Spirit come down upon you and make you fruitful in the Lord’s service.”

The Vatican II Church is a madhouse!
