Ecumenism in Action…
Houston, We Have a Problem: Protestant “Ordination” at “Cardinal” DiNardo’s Cathedral
On May 28, 2013, the “Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston” of the Vatican II Sect rented out its Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Houston, Texas, to the Protestant group known as the United Methodist Church, a religious body that “recognizes tragic conflicts of life with life that may justify abortion, and in such cases we support the legal option of abortion under proper medical procedures” (The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church).
The United Methodists performed a service of “commissioning & ordination” at the supposedly Catholic cathedral, with “Bishop” Janice R. Huie preaching. This took place under the auspices of the Novus Ordo “Archbishop” of Galveston-Houston, “Cardinal” Daniel Nicholas DiNardo. (Can anyone imagine what Mr. DiNardo would have done if the Society of St. Pius X had requested to use his cathedral for Mass?)
The Rorate Caeli blog has the story (click here). More photos of the event can be viewed at the UMC Texas Conference Facebook page here.
Now, before anyone starts screaming that this was some “abuse” committed by “Cardinal” DiNardo, let it be known that this was entirely in conformity with the impious Directory for the Application of Principles and Norms of Ecumenism, promulgated by the supposed “authority” of the False “Pope” John Paul II in 1993:
Catholic churches are consecrated or blessed buildings which have an important theological and liturgical significance for the Catholic community. They are therefore generally [!] reserved for Catholic worship. However, if priests, ministers or communities not in full communion with the Catholic Church do not have a place or the liturgical objects necessary for celebrating worthily their religious ceremonies, the diocesan Bishop may allow them the use of a church or a Catholic building and also lend them what may be necessary for their services. Under similar circumstances, permission may be given to them for interment or for the celebration of services at Catholic cemeteries.
(John Paul II, Directory for the Application of Principles and Norms of Ecumenism, March 25, 1993, n. 137)
Are you shocked? Why? This is the Ecumenism of the Modernist Church in action, with the official endorsement of John Paul II, who was the Vatican’s Chief Ecumenist from 1978 until 2005. Of course, the impiety of this Directory is staggering: Not only is a bishop permitted to rent a Catholic church out to heretics for their religious [!] use so they can “worthily” [!] celebrate their rites, which are objectively displeasing to God because they profess a false faith and are not sanctioned by Him. In Catholic moral theology, this is known as “false worship” and is a sin against the very First Commandment:
God may be wrongly worshiped either by false worship or by superfluous worship being paid Him. Worship of God is false when its meaning is not in accordance with fact, or when the falsehood is in the person who performs the act of worship, as when a layman performs the duties of a priest, or when someone tries to gain credence for false miracles or false relics…. [F]alsehood in religion is a grave injury to God… Anything in the worship of God which does not tend to His honor and glory, or which is against the ordinances and practice of the Church, to whom the regulation of religious worship exclusively belongs, is superfluous worship and superstition.
(Fr. Thomas Slater, S.J., A Manual of Moral Theology, vol. 1, 3rd ed. [Benziger Brothers, 1908], pp. 215-216)
But to make it worse, the Ecumenical Directory then gives the bishop permission to even “lend” to the heretics whatever paraphernalia, including “liturgical objects” [!!!], “may be necessary for their services”! Can you imagine a Catholic chalice being used for a Protestant “Lord’s Supper”? Or a Catholic crucifix for a heretical church service? Or candles, incense, vestments, relics, you name it…? This is officially-Novus-Ordo-sanctioned sacrilege promulgated by the highest Vatican authority twenty years ago, John Paul II (who is a “Blessed” in the New Church, of course)!
Reality Check:
This impious Ecumenical Directory could not possibly have come from a true Pope or the true Church, because the Catholic Church is spotless and infallible in her sacred universal laws and disciplines. She cannot impose, permit, or tolerate such evil to be hurled at the unsuspecting faithful, for she is the Bride of Christ, our Mother in whom we can trust like little children, not a monster or a whore against which we have to guard ourselves lest we be defiled or led into error, impiety, or other spiritual harm. So, just saying “this isn’t binding” won’t do – not only could the Church not force this on anyone, she could not even permit it or tolerate it, and hence any church that does such a thing cannot be the Catholic Church of Our Blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Read the following quotes and ask yourself if you can in all seriousness really apply them, in good conscience, to the Modernist Vatican II Church:
Certainly the loving Mother [the Church] is spotless in the Sacraments, by which she gives birth to and nourishes her children; in the faith which she has always preserved inviolate; in her sacred laws imposed on all; in the evangelical counsels which she recommends; in those heavenly gifts and extraordinary graces through which, with inexhaustible fecundity, she generates hosts of martyrs, virgins and confessors.
(Pope Pius XII, Encyclical Mystici Corporis, n. 66)
…as if the Church which is ruled by the Spirit of God could have established discipline which is not only useless and burdensome for Christian liberty to endure, but which is even dangerous and harmful and leading to superstition and materialism.
(Pope Pius VI, Bull Auctorem Fidei, n. 78; Denz. 1578)
[T]he discipline sanctioned by the Church must never be rejected or be branded as contrary to certain principles of natural law. It must never be called crippled, or imperfect or subject to civil authority. In this discipline the administration of sacred rites, standards of morality, and the reckoning of the rights of the Church and her ministers are embraced.
(Pope Gregory XVI, Encyclical Mirari Vos, n. 9)
The Church’s infallibility extends to the general discipline of the Church… By the term “general discipline of the Church” are meant those ecclesiastical laws passed for the universal Church for the direction of Christian worship and Christian living… The imposing of commands belongs not directly to the teaching office but to the ruling office; disciplinary laws are only indirectly an object of infallibility, i.e., only by reason of the doctrinal decision implicit in them. When the Church’s rulers sanction a law, they implicitly make a twofold judgment: 1. “This law squares with the Church’s doctrine of faith and morals”; that is, it imposes nothing that is at odds with sound belief and good morals. This amounts to a doctrinal decree. 2. “This law, considering all the circumstances, is most opportune.” This is a decree of practical judgment.
(Mgr. Gerard van Noort, Dogmatic Theology, vol. 2, Christ’s Church, 1957)
The Church is infallible in her general discipline. By the term general discipline is understood the laws and practices which belong to the external ordering of the whole Church. Such things would be those which concern either external worship, such as liturgy and rubrics, or the administration of the sacraments…. If she [the Church] were able to prescribe or command or tolerate in her discipline something against faith and morals, or something which tended to the detriment of the Church or to the harm of the faithful, she would turn away from her divine mission, which would be impossible.”
(Jean Herrmann, Institutiones Theologiae Dogmaticae, Vol. 1, 1908, p. 258)
