Andy Heasman arrested…

Prayer Request:
“Mary’s Troublemaker” imprisoned in Ireland

Dubliner Andy Heasman, 42

In this brief post we would like to ask for prayers for Mr. Andy Heasman, a vociferous Catholic activist in Ireland who was recently arrested, reportedly for a “public order offense”.

The details of the charges are not clear (to us), but Heasman has been given a two-month prison sentence and is currently in “isolation” at Castlerea. The following links help shed more light on the matter:

A quick disclaimer is in order: This post is a prayer request for a Catholic in prison, not a political action post or an endorsement of every aspect of Mr. Heasman’s activism. We understand that different people will have different opinions on that, but we must remember: “I was in prison, and you came to me” (Mt 25:36).

At the end of last year, Heasman was imprisoned for two months for not wearing a mask over his face, mouth, and nose. Instead, he wore it on his head. This story made the front page of a major Irish tabloid:

Earlier this year, Heasman led a peaceful demonstration in front of the Freemasonic Lodge of Limerick City. On another occasion, he led a Rosary procession in front of Our Lady of Knock Shrine. Andy is a sedevacantist.

Although he does have a web site, it is clear that Heasman’s evangelization efforts are not primarily realized online but “in the real world”. He actually goes out on the street and preaches from the housetops, so to speak: “That which I tell you in the dark, speak ye in the light: and that which you hear in the ear, preach ye upon the housetops” (Mt 10:27).

Back in January, Heasman was interviewed on the Catholic Family Podcast. The story of his conversion from a life of sin through the intercession of the Blessed Mother is quite inspiring:

The combox is disabled for this post. The idea is not for people to spend time now debating the matter but to make intercession for Mr. Heasman. Thank you.

As Sacred Scripture says, we ought to “pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much” (Jas 5:16). “Peter therefore was kept in prison. But prayer was made without ceasing by the church unto God for him” (Acts 12:5).

All ye holy saints and angels, pray for Andy Heasman!
