When Neo-Modernists renovate a sanctuary…
Behold the Wreckage:
‘Catholic’ College Chapel in Spain Gets Make-Over
If that won’t lift souls to higher things….
The University of Valladolid in Spain has a residential college under the patronage of St. John the Evangelist. Known as the Colegio Mayor San Juan Evangelista, it was established in 1956.
Of course there is also a chapel available, and it is ‘serviced’, shall we say, by the post-Catholic Archdiocese of Valladolid. In other words, it is a Novus Ordo worship space, and that’s exactly how it looks.
On Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, the local ‘Roman Catholic archbishop’, Luis Javier Argüello García (b. 1953), visited the premises to hold a Eucharistic celebration and to confer scholarships. According to a post released by the archdiocese on its Facebook page two days ago:
Last Saturday, Archbishop #LuisArgüello and the delegate for University Ministry, José Emiliano Rubio, visited the San Juan Evangelista University Residence Hall, whose facilities have been renovated: they celebrated Mass and held an opening ceremony that included the awarding of scholarships.

A total of 13 photos were included in the Facebook post. Here are five of them (some of them cropped):
Abp. Arguello, accompanied by José Rubio, surveys the damage admires the renovated sanctuary.
Arguello with four other clerics at what is the holiest act of divine worship in their religion.
A female lector also participates in the Novus Ordo worship service.
Incense makes it more solemn. Be sure to notice the crucifix at the top, left of center.
A full view from the back of the chapel. If that doesn’t inspire young college students!
It may be hard to believe but, yes, these are photos of the chapel after the renovation was completed. What looks more like ongoing construction or perhaps vandalism is actually the finished project.
All of this is quite reminiscent of the ‘artwork’ in the seminary chapel of the Austrian Graz-Seckau diocese, as well as that of the Church of St. Andrew, also located in Graz:

Who needs vandals when you’ve got Catholic churches and chapels in the hands of Neo-Modernists?
