Dynamite lecture on the Catholic crisis!

Eclipse of the Church: The Case for Sedevacantism

During this year’s Fatima Conference hosted by the Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen (CMRI) in Spokane, Washington, Mr. Mario Derksen, pictured below, delivered a compelling 79-minute lecture making the case for Sedevacantism in a way you may not have heard before.

Instead of going through heaps of detailed theological arguments, the speaker presented the “big picture”:

The Catholic Church was founded by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as the indefectible Ark of Salvation that is nothing less than His very own Mystical Body. Just as Christ the Lord cannot fail to be “the way, and the truth, and the life” (Jn 14:6), neither can His Mystical Body fail to be “the pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Tim 3:15). As the immaculate Bride of Christ, “not having spot or wrinkle” (Eph 5:27), the Church will forever be “spotless in the Sacraments, by which she gives birth to and nourishes her children; in the faith which she has always preserved inviolate; in her sacred laws imposed on all; in the evangelical counsels which she recommends; in those heavenly gifts and extraordinary graces through which, with inexhaustible fecundity, she generates hosts of martyrs, virgins and confessors” (Pope Pius XII, Encyclical Mystici Corporis, n. 66).

At the same time, just as Christ the Lord was persecuted in His Physical Body, so the Mystical Body of Christ must likewise suffer maltreatment, indeed its very own Mystical Passion. Considering that “Christ and His Vicar constitute one only Head” (Mystici Corporis, n. 40), it is not surprising that we should find the forces of darkness centering their persecution on the Pope. In 1884, Pope Leo XIII denounced the Freemasons for “what in secret among themselves they have for a long time plotted, that the sacred power of the Pontiffs must be abolished, and that the papacy itself, founded by divine right, must be utterly destroyed” (Encyclical Humanum Genus, n. 15).

Since Satan is unable to destroy the Papacy, inasmuch as it is of divine institution (cf. Acts 5:38-39) and indefectible (see Mt 16:18; Lk 22:31-32), he installed a series of false popes instead while in actual fact the Chair of St. Peter remains vacant. This “operation of error” (2 Thess 2:10) is now at work while Our Lord’s prophecy, “I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be dispersed” (Mk 14:27), is fulfilled a second time.

The most popular alternative to Sedevacantism, the position of the so-called “recognize-and-resist” traditionalists, is powerfully refuted not only as being directly contrary to the perennial Catholic magisterium but as overturning the very purpose for which our Blessed Lord established the Catholic Church to begin with.

The text of this lecture will also be published in the sedevacantist quarterly The Reign of Mary in the coming weeks.

There is one minor error in the original talk: The 1853 encyclical Inter Multiplices of Pope Pius IX was quoted but misidentified as Nostis et Nobiscum. The mistake has been corrected in the transcript.
