“What concord hath Christ with Belial?” (2 Cor 6:15)

Apostasy in Abu Dhabi:
Francis says God wills Diversity of Religions

“Pope” Francis is currently visiting the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a very brief trip that will conclude tomorrow, Feb. 5. The main objective of the visit has been to attend an interreligious meeting on “human brotherhood” at The Founder’s Memorial in the capital of Abu Dhabi and sign a joint declaration with the Grand Imam there. This Francis did today.

Before he took part in the interfaith conference, however, the Argentinian pseudo-pope paid a visit to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and held a closed-door meeting with the members of the Muslim Council of Elders in the Grand Mosque of Sheik Zayed. Vatican Media released one photo of the inside of the meeting (click here to view), which lasted about 30 minutes and “highlighted the importance of the culture of encounter to strengthen the commitment to pre [sic] dialogue and peace” (source).

The interreligious meeting, officially called the Global Conference of Human Fraternity, was sponsored by the Muslim Council of Elders. Predictably, it focused on the lowest common religious denominator. A 3-minute recap of the spectacle has been put together by Rome Reports:

At the end of the conference, both Francis and his host, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmad Al-Tayyib, put their signatures to a common declaration entitled A Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together.

We will provide commentary on the speech Francis gave in an upcoming post [now available here]. In this present one, we will focus instead on the joint statement Francis signed together with the imam. As we cannot analyze and refute every single objectionable point, we will restrict ourselves to some select few.

It does not take long to find serious theological errors in this Muslim-“Catholic” text. Its very introduction asserts that it is “the great divine grace that makes all human beings brothers and sisters”, when the truth is that what links all of humanity together in this way is nature, not grace. What grace does, on the other hand, is make the regenerated (those justified through supernatural Faith, hope, and charity received in baptism) the true and supernatural children of God: “For you are all the children of God by faith, in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized in Christ, have put on Christ” (Gal 3:26-27; cf. Rom 8:15). But it is nature, not grace, that makes us all members of the same human family.

The document claims that “the values of peace, justice, goodness, beauty, human fraternity and coexistence” are “anchors of salvation for all” — without specifying what this might possibly mean. It mentions “religious values” that are supposedly shared between Islam and Christianity, a distancing from which is alleged to be “among the most important causes of the crises of the modern world.” There is no doubt indeed that the cause of the ills of our world is chiefly man’s distancing of himself from the true God and His holy law — but certainly not his distancing from the teachings of Islam or any other man-made religion. As Pope Pius XI noted, the “manifold evils in the world [are] due to the fact that the majority of men [have] thrust Jesus Christ and his holy law out of their lives” (Encyclical Quas Primas, n. 1). There is no mention made of any nebulous “religious values” that are supposedly affirmed in common by the religion of God and the religions of the devil.

Further on in the text, the declaration speaks of the need for “an adherence to moral values and upright religious teachings”. Considering what Islam teaches about morality and religion, this can only be taken as a comedy script, but the insanity does not stop there. It is only getting started.

“The first and most important aim of religions”, the document instructs the reader, “is to believe in God, to honour Him and to invite all men and women to believe that this universe depends on a God who governs it”. That Muslims and Catholics do indeed both believe that there exists a Creator God and that we must adore Him and desire that others do the same, can certainly be conceded, but this much is evident from reason alone. Interestingly enough, the superficial similarities between the two religions end abruptly as soon as one inquires as to who that God is, what His nature is, and to what purpose He has created the world and man specifically. This just as a side note.

The text then talks about how God is the author of human life, which no one is allowed to take away “to suit oneself.” After condemning various offenses against life including genocide, abortion, and euthanasia — but curiously omitting capital punishment, presumably because it is legal in the UAE and in Islam –, it also condemns “war, hateful attitudes, hostility and extremism” which, of course, are said to be “the consequence of a deviation from religious teachings” (emphasis added). Furthermore, the document asserts that “God, the Almighty, has no need to be defended by anyone”, conveniently leaving out of account that simply because God has, strictly speaking, no need of something, does not mean He does not nevertheless demand it. After all, God has no need of our worship, yet He demands it and we owe it to Him. How He is to be defended is another matter altogether, of course, but the principle holds true.

Alas, none of this even comes close to the biggest whopper in the common declaration, which is this:

Freedom is a right of every person: each individual enjoys the freedom of belief, thought, expression and action. The pluralism and the diversity of religions, colour, sex, race and language are willed by God in His wisdom, through which He created human beings. This divine wisdom is the source from which the right to freedom of belief and the freedom to be different derives.

(Antipope Francis and Grand Imam Ahmad Al-Tayyib, “A Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together”, Vatican.va, Feb. 4, 2019; underlining added.)

This is blasphemy! This is apostasy!

This takes Modernist “papal” apostasy to a whole new level. Until today, none of the Novus Ordo “popes” ever dared to utter this heresy and blasphemy directly. The closest the Vatican II Sect ever came was during the time of “St.” John Paul II, when his Lenten preacher delivered a sermon during the Vatican’s Good Friday liturgy in 2002. Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, OFM Cap., blasphemously claimed that false religions “are not merely tolerated by God … but positively willed by Him as an expression of the inexhaustible richness of His grace and His will for everyone to be saved” (Sermon of March 29, 2002; English taken from here).

Cantalamessa was never disciplined for this clear endorsement of apostasy, nor was there any outrage. And why should there be, considering that this is essentially what they all believe in Novus Ordo Land anyway, the proof of which we saw today in Abu Dhabi. It will come as no surprise, therefore, that Fr. Cantalamessa still holds the position of preacher of the “papal” household to this very day.

This apostate statement Francis signed today represents the latest stage of development of Novus Ordo teaching, which has its origin in “St.” John XXIII’s 1963 encyclical Pacem in Terris (n. 14) and Vatican II’s 1965 declaration Dignitatis Humanae (n. 2). Although freedom of religion was proclaimed there, this freedom was declared to be rooted in man’s dignity (which is false, too), whereas Francis has now announced its origin as being the Divine Wisdom Itself — and this will be taken as “doctrinal development”. It is a frightful blasphemy of staggering audacity!

Francis’ assertion that religious diversity is willed by God is a landmark development, the importance and consequences of which cannot be overestimated. Of course there will be some of the usual suspects trying to spin this manifest heresy into a statement still within the bounds of orthodoxy — we are thinking of people like Robert Fastiggi and Jimmy Akin — but everyone else will get the message.

The fact that this is an outrageous blasphemy should not need any proof. God is all-good and all-knowing — and He can never be the author of error and lies, and He cannot will them to exist. Rather, He “will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim 2:4). To make God the author of evil, of lies and of falsehood, is to blaspheme in the most serious way possible! It is to identify God Almighty with Satan!

Christ said to the Pharisees who accused Him in similar fashion: “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and he stood not in the truth; because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof” (Jn 8:44).

St. Paul the Apostle underscored the utter incompatibility between God and the devil when he wrote: “Bear not the yoke with unbelievers. For what participation hath justice with injustice? Or what fellowship hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath the faithful with the unbeliever? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?” (2 Cor 6:14-16).

If it were true that God wills false religions to exist — as opposed to merely tolerating their existence and calling people to conversion — it would be the end of revealed religion. It would mean that when the renegade Israelites worshipped the Golden Calf, they were doing the will of God and He had no right to punish them. It would mean that the pagan priests whom Elias slew were really priests of the true God. It would mean that the “strange gods” (idols) of the Gentiles, so frequently condemned in Sacred Scripture, are really willed by God in His infinite Wisdom. Finally, all this would also mean that Christ was a dangerous charlatan, that His Resurrection was a lie, and that the Catholic martyrs were a bunch of idiots. In short: If Francis were right, Catholicism would be a cruel joke. (And then nobody would need a Pope, either, but Francis probably didn’t think that far.)

And yet it makes perfect sense for Francis to sign a document that affirms such a horrendous blasphemy and apostasy. Recall that in January 2016, he released his first “Pope Video”, which was a bold promotion of apostasy that showed very vividly what Francis believes about God’s revelation, namely, that “there is only one certainty we have for all: we are all children of God”. What a blasphemous heresy!

The outrage the document’s statement on religious diversity engenders threatens to eclipse the fact that the first assertion made, namely, that “each individual enjoys the freedom of belief, thought, expression and action” is a serious error — arguably a heresy — as well, for liberty of conscience and religion was condemned by the Popes in the nineteenth century in no uncertain terms:

This shameful font of indifferentism gives rise to that absurd and erroneous proposition which claims that liberty of conscience must be maintained for everyone. It spreads ruin in sacred and civil affairs, though some repeat over and over again with the greatest impudence that some advantage accrues to religion from it. “But the death of the soul is worse than freedom of error,” as Augustine was wont to say. When all restraints are removed by which men are kept on the narrow path of truth, their nature, which is already inclined to evil, propels them to ruin. Then truly “the bottomless pit” is open from which John saw smoke ascending which obscured the sun, and out of which locusts flew forth to devastate the earth. Thence comes transformation of minds, corruption of youths, contempt of sacred things and holy laws — in other words, a pestilence more deadly to the state than any other. Experience shows, even from earliest times, that cities renowned for wealth, dominion, and glory perished as a result of this single evil, namely immoderate freedom of opinion, license of free speech, and desire for novelty.

(Pope Gregory XVI, Encyclical Mirari Vos, n. 14; underlining added.)

Every man is free to embrace and profess that religion which, guided by the light of reason, he shall consider true. [CONDEMNED]

(Pope Pius IX, Syllabus of Errors, n. 15)

Those who might think that this Document on Human Fraternity is simply another paper that no one will take any long-term notice of and that will soon disappear in the deepest recesses of some Vatican office, must understand that Francis and Al-Tayyib “announce and pledge” in the text that they will “convey this Document to authorities, influential leaders, persons of religion all over the world, appropriate regional and international organizations, organizations within civil society, religious institutions and leading thinkers” in order to “to make known the principles contained in this Declaration at all regional and international levels, while requesting that these principles be translated into policies, decisions, legislative texts, courses of study and materials to be circulated.”

In other words: This joint statement of principles is only the beginning of a wave of further texts and actions. You can expect it to be quoted from now on in Vatican documents and perhaps the next edition of the Catechism, which Francis has already “updated” with a new revelation from the god of surprises.
