Refinishing the Great Facade:

The Vatican, the SSPX, and the “Restoration of Tradition”

“Thus saith the Lord: Stand ye on the ways, and see and ask for the old paths which is the good way, and walk ye in it: and you shall find refreshment for your souls. And they said: we will not walk.” ―Jeremias 6:16

“No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or he will hold to the one, and despise the other.” ―Our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 16:13)

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema.” READ MORE

SEDE VACANTE 1958 – 2008

Reflections on a 50-Year Vacancy of the Apostolic See

Fifty years ago, around 3:50 am local time on October 9, 1958, His Holiness Pope Pius XII drew his last breath in Rome. At that time, most Catholics surely viewed this as simply an ordinary death of yet another Pope, and though lamentable, a new Pope would surely follow soon, and all would be well.

The last 50 years have proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that such was not the case. At first, everything seemed to go the usual way. The deceased Pope received a solemn funeral, and a conclave to elect his successor was scheduled for October 25.… READ MORE

The Chair Is Still Empty:
A Response to John Salza on the Alleged “Errors of Sedevacantism”

PART 1

On July 15, 2010, The Remnant published an article by Milwaukee-based Mr. John Salza, J.D., critiquing the theological position known as sedevacantism (from the Latin sede vacante, “the chair being empty”), which basically holds that the claimants to the papal throne after the death of Pope Pius XII on October 9, 1958, are illegitimate and not true Popes at all, and that the church of which John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI have been the heads is not the Catholic Church of our Lord Jesus Christ but a modernist institution masquerading as the Catholic Church, with the ultimate aim to eradicate true, traditional Catholicism from the face of the earth in order to lead souls to hell.… READ MORE

Cruisin’ Through Lent:
Michael Voris’ and “Fr.” Zuhlsdorf’s “Retreat Cruise” for Lent ’13

Lenten Retreat, anyone? Don’t forget your sun screen!

Commentary by Francis del Sarto

[Please note: Due to the sede vacante state of the Novus Ordo Church at the time, “Fr.” John Zuhlsdorf ended up not participating in the cruise. Another Novus Ordo priest attended instead.]

Every year the holy season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, when the priest distributes blessed ashes obtained from the prior year’s Palm Sunday palms. Upon putting the ashes on each person’s forehead in the form of a cross, the priest says, “Memento homo, quia pulvis es, et in pulverem reverteris” – “Remember, man, that thou art dust, and unto dust thou shalt return.”

The “Pope” Strikes Again…

Francis: HAPPY RAMADAN!

On July 8, 2013, “His Holiness” Mr. Jorge Bergoglio (called by most “Pope Francis”) visited the Italian island of Lampedusa, a tiny speck in the Mediterranean Sea between Tunisia and Sicily. In a speech in which he supported the rights (whether real or imagined) of refugee immigrants, Francis took a moment to greet in particular the Muslims, who were but two days away from their fasting month of Ramadan:

“I also think with affection of those Muslim immigrants who this evening begin the fast of Ramadan, which I trust will bear abundant spiritual fruit.

Setting the Record Straight

The Calumny Against Pope Pius IX

His Holiness, Pope Pius IX (1846-1878)

Now that the Novus Ordo “cardinals” have chosen Mr. Jorge Bergoglio to be their “Pope Francis”, a lot of good-willed Traditionalists in the Vatican II Church are getting a bit nervous, judging from Bergoglio’s prior record as “Archbishop” of Buenos Aires and the first few days of his “pontificate”, which are clearly heralding a return to the days of Paul VI, to put it mildly.

Faced with these undesirable realities, a number of people who had been fooled into believing that with Benedict XVI a sort of “restoration of the Church” had begun — the precise illusion we had warned against shortly after Ratzinger’s election — are now spreading the idea that having to deal with a man like Bergoglio at the helm is really nothing new in the Church, because, allegedly, other Popes in the Church’s history weren’t much better before their election.… READ MORE

How to Understand what Francis Really Meant in 11 Easy Steps

Jimmy Akin is a professional Novus Ordo apologist. He is employed by California-based Catholic Answers, but also writes for the EWTN-owned so-called National Catholic Register newspaper.

Akin enjoys a generous, six-figure salary at his job, and it is easy to see why: He makes the impossible happen for the Vatican II Church on a daily basis, which now includes even suspending the law of non-contradiction, as needed. And when it comes to Jorge Bergoglio, the talkative Argentinian Modernist who claims to be the Pope of the Catholic Church, the need is great.
