Bishop Sanborn Responds to Bishop Williamson

Bishop Richard Williamson, formerly with the Society of St. Pius X but expelled in 2012 for being as obedient to Bp. Fellay as Fellay was obedient to John Paul II, still stubbornly clings to the Lefebvrist “recognize-and-resist” position and so continues to reject Sedevacantism. A convert from Anglicanism in 1971, Bp. Williamson has demonstrated again and again that although he always has plenty to say, he has no real grasp of genuine Catholic theology.

Recently, Bp. Williamson published a two-part series against Sedevacantism in his weekly Eleison Comments.

German Authorities Try to Shut Down Traditional Catholic Web Site, Seek Arrest of Editors for “Incitement of the People”

Logo of the German-speaking Catholic web portal Kreuz.Net

Update 2016: KreuzNet is back online but now under a different domain name: kreuz-net.tk

Update 2013: Kreuz.Net took itself offline in December 2012 on its own initiative; while the reason is not known with certainty, the “unofficial” word is that it was done to protect the identity of the individuals involved as the pressure from law enforcement and other groups became more and more acute.

Original story posted in 2012:

The German-speaking traditional Catholic news and commentary web site Kreuz.Net (Kreuz, pronounced “croyts”, is German for “cross”), famous for its politically-incorrect writing style and over-the-top anti-liberal rhetoric has long been a thorn in the side of German prosecutors, politicians, Novus Ordo “bishops”, homosexuals, and liberals and anti-Catholics at large.

Bishop Williamson consecrates Fr. Tomás de Aquino a Bishop for Resistance Group

bishop-thomas-aquinas.jpg

The newly-consecrated Bishop Tomas de Aquino, OSB

In an effort to expand the group of clerics that left the Society of St. Pius X in recent years because the SSPX wasn’t SSPX enough for them anymore, Bishop Richard Williamson — himself expelled from the SSPX in 2012 — consecrated another bishop, this time, Fr. Tomas de Aquino, OSB. The episcopal consecration took place as scheduled on March 19, 2016, in Nova Friburgo, Brazil, near Rio de Janeiro.

Some photos of the ceremony can be viewed here.

Another blow to Bp. Williamson…

Against Mente-Vacantism:
Refuting the Idea that the Vatican II “Popes” Cannot Be Guilty of Heresy because they have no Grasp of Immutable Truth

Bishop Donald Sanborn, rector of the sedevacantist Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida, has produced another excellent post in which he refutes one of the main errors of the ‘Resistance’ movement, that which has come to be known as “mente-vacantism” — “empty-mindedness” —, according to which Francis and his manifestly heretical predecessors cannot be considered heretics because they are allegedly incapable of understanding the concept of the changelessness (“immutability”) of truth.

As Bp.

TRADCAST 007, released on August 17, 2015, is packed with informative traditional Catholic content: In the first segment, we examine the Nature of Faith to understand why it is that a Catholic must believe all dogmas of the Faith in order to be a Catholic, and why even denial of just one dogma does not render him “mostly” Catholic but not a Catholic at all. We then tackle American Novus Ordo blogger Mark Shea’s controversial remarks about the Planned Parenthood undercover videos — while he did denounce the atrocities of the baby-killing organization, in a recent podcast he spent considerable time condemning the prolife entity that exposed Planned Parenthood for lying to the abortionists and deceiving them in order to be able to make these videos.

Williamson Watch:
More Commentary on the “New Mass” Fiasco

williamson2.jpg

Bp. Richard Williamson

Once more we return to the controversy surrounding Bishop Richard Williamson for remarks he made on June 28 of this year about the licitness of attending the “New Mass” of Paul VI (aka Novus Ordo Missae) in certain exceptional circumstances. Because of the seriousness of the question and the standing Bp. Williamson enjoys among people who consider themselves uncompromising, militant traditional Catholics, more commentary on the matter is fitting.

Formerly with the Society of St. Pius X (until his dismissal in 2012) and now a “wandering” cleric, Bp.

Williamson spouts Protestant ideas…

Christ or Belial?
Bp. Sanborn refutes Bp. Williamson on the “New Mass”

sanborn-williamson.jpg

Just recently we took Bp. Richard Williamson to task for his ludicrous argumentation that the “New Mass” of the Vatican II Sect can licitly be attended by Catholics under certain restrictive circumstances. As we demonstrated in our post and video, the former SSPX bishop’s argumentation was lacking in consistency and, most of all, in traditional Catholic theological principles. Williamson based his entire argumentation on the Modernist, Subjectivist, and Protestant idea that licit attendance at Holy Mass is determined by what it does for the believer, rather than whether it is the true worship of God by the Catholic Church.

Bishop Williamson: Novus Ordo “Mass” is Bad but OK if it “Nourishes your Faith”

We have long criticized the absurd, non-Catholic, and principle-less “theology” of the Lefebvrist Society of St. Pius X. How poor and bizarre it really is has just been demonstrated once again by none other than Bishop Richard Williamson, an Englishman consecrated by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in 1988.

Although at this point no longer a part of the official SSPX, he is still very much part of the semi-traditionalist “resistance” against the Modernist Vatican that recognizes Francis and his five predecessors of infelicitous memory as legitimate — yet entirely ignorable — Roman Catholic Popes.

On Bp. Faure’s recent Consecration

Resistance Madness: A Sedevacantist looks at Bp. Williamson’s Justification for Consecrating Bp. Faure

williamson-faure-consecration2.jpg

We do not typically simply republish other people’s blog posts, but in this case, we will make an exception as the post shows the anti-Catholic ideas inherent in the justifications given by Bp. Richard Williamson for his recent episcopal consecration of Bp. Jean-Michel Faure, both formerly with the Society of St. Pius X.

The following is a repost from the blog Introibo ad Altare Dei. With a few minor exceptions, all formatting has been retained as in the original post, which is entitled Pater Noster?

Neo-Traditionalist ‘Resistance’ gets a new Bishop, SSPX condemns, Vatican expected to announce Excommunication

The do-your-own-thing religion of Neo-Traditionalism, more specifically the camp of the “really-really-bad Resistance trads” (i.e. those who split from the SSPX because the SSPX was no longer SSPX enough), has gotten a new bishop: Fr. Jean-Michel Faure, 73, was consecrated on March 19, 2015, by Bp. Richard Williamson, 75, in Nova Friburgo, Brazil, near Rio de Janeiro. (We had blogged on the impending consecration here.)

Williamson is one of the original four bishops consecrated by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in Econe, Switzerland, on June 30, 1988 (see video here), which was the official date of the beginning of what has come to be known as the “Lefebvre schism” in the Novus Ordo Church.

Episcopal Consecration on March 19

Former SSPX Bp. Richard Williamson to
Consecrate Fr. Jean-Michel Faure a Bishop

williamson-faure.jpg

At age 73, Fr. Faure, right, is only two years younger than his consecrator.

The following report is a repost from the Novus Ordo / indult Rorate Caeli web site (original post here):

It was only a matter of time. Ever since Bishop Richard Williamson eventually caused the Society of Saint Pius X (FSSPX / SSPX) to force his own expulsion from that Society in 2012, the watch has been on for him to consecrate one or more bishops. This became even more inevitable as he has failed to recruit any significant number of clergy or faithful away from the SSPX in a so-called “Resistance” attempt.

A Response to Bp. Richard Williamson’s Arguments
against Sedevacantism in his Eleison Comments of 2014
(Part 1)

On Jan. 25, 2014, Bp. Richard Williamson, formerly with the Society of St. Pius X, released issue no. 341 of his Eleison Comments, which are sent out on a weekly basis to subscribers by email. In this particular installment, His Excellency once again returns to the topic of sedevacantism. He writes:

The words and deeds of Pope Francis since his election earlier last year have been so little Catholic and so outrageous, that the idea that recent popes have not really been Popes (”sedevacantism”) has been given a new lease of life.

The SSPX War Continues:
Bp. Williamson Excoriates Bp. Fellay

fellay-williamson.jpg

Please Note: Novus Ordo Watch does not side with either Bp. Williamson or with Bp. Fellay. In fact, we reject the position of the Society of St. Pius X (whether that of Fellay or of Williamson) as at least doctrinally erroneous if not outright heretical, as absurd, as unworkable, as offensive to pious ears, and so forth, as some of the links below will demonstrate. We merely provide this information about the SSPX and Bp. Williamson’s latest salvo to keep our readers informed about the problems inside (and outside) of the Society, as a lot of good-willed people who seek to be true Catholics are entangled in it to some degree or another.
