The binding force of this instruction from the Holy Office, eminently relevant in our difficult times, was reaffirmed by the same Holy Office in 1919, under Pope Benedict XV, and in 1927, under Pope Pius XI.

Highlights:

  • “take care lest, while seeking unity, you turn yourselves aside from the way”
  • “sorry that you happened to think those Christian groups that boast of having the inheritance of the priesthood and the catholic name belong to the true Church of Jesus Christ, even though they are divided and separated from Peter”
  • “what sane person will persuade himself that error can underlie the Church’s public and solemn magisterium”
  • “no one is in the Catholic Church who does not cling to that Rock, on which the foundation of Catholic unity has been set”
  • “all groups entirely separated from external and visible communion with and obedience to the Roman Pontiff cannot be the Church of Christ, nor in any way whatsoever can they belong to the Church of Christ”

Bishop Sanborn Responds to Bishop Williamson

Bishop Richard Williamson, formerly with the Society of St. Pius X but expelled in 2012 for being as obedient to Bp. Fellay as Fellay was obedient to John Paul II, still stubbornly clings to the Lefebvrist “recognize-and-resist” position and so continues to reject Sedevacantism. A convert from Anglicanism in 1971, Bp. Williamson has demonstrated again and again that although he always has plenty to say, he has no real grasp of genuine Catholic theology.

Recently, Bp. Williamson published a two-part series against Sedevacantism in his weekly Eleison Comments.

Permission for Adulterers to receive “Communion” is Only Authentic Interpretation of Amoris Laetitia

[UDPATE 12-SEP-16: The Vatican has confirmed the authenticity of the leaked documents and their controversial contents. The matter has now been reported by Vatican Radio, by News.va, and by Osservatore Romano.]

[UPDATE 10-SEP-16: InfoCatólica.com has removed the posts referenced below; according to journalist Jeanne Smits, the information was apparently not meant for public consumption. Novus Ordo Watch has saved copies of the originals posted. In addition, a scan of Francis’ letter and the Argentinian document to which he was responding are now available here.]

In a letter dated September 5, 2016 to the delegate of the Buenos Aires pastoral region of Argentina, “Pope” Francis has explicitly confirmed that the only correct reading of Amoris Laetitia is that which permits unrepentant adulterers to receive “Holy Communion” under certain circumstances.

Can Catholic Doctrine Change?

There is much confusion and misunderstanding, especially these days, about whether Catholic teaching can ever change, whether it has changed in the past, and if so, what this means for an infallible Church.

In a very readable and succinct article entitled “Does Catholic Doctrine Change?”, published in 1947, Fr. Francis J. Connell of the Catholic University of America tackles the issue head-on and, drawing the necessary qualifications and distinctions, shows what part of Catholic teaching can change, what cannot change, and how this relates to the Church’s infallibility and her divine mission to obtain the salvation of souls.

Full Text Leaked: 45 Novus Ordo Scholars Condemn Amoris Laetitia as Heretical

The laughing stock that is the Novus Ordo Church is getting more and more absurd by the day. A few weeks ago was the first time we heard about a substantial scholarly critique of “Pope” Francis’ supposed “Apostolic Exhortation” Amoris Laetitia, the blasphemous and heretical document in which Francis undermines not only Catholic teaching on sexuality but obliterates the very foundations of Catholic moral theology. (See our memes that illustrate the absurd effects of the teaching contained in Amoris Laetitia.)

The critical study, together with its accompanying June 29 letter addressed to the Dean of the College of “Cardinals”, Angelo Sodano, was signed by 45 theologians and other scholars in the New Church and sent to all 219 “cardinals” around the globe.

[UPDATE 29-JUL-16 19:01 UTC: Society of St. Pius X (SSPX): What is and what is not negotiable for reconciliation with the Catholic Church? (Vatican Insider)]

The head of the Vatican’s so-called Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, “Archbishop” Guido Pozzo, has revealed in an interview with the German Christ & Welt that Bp. Bernard Fellay, Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), has agreed to canonical regularization under a personal prelature solution, although details are still being worked out.

Roman Catholic Magisterial Documents

The Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church has published countless doctrinal and disciplinary texts throughout its 2,000-year history: papal and conciliar constitutions, decrees, bulls, letters, encyclicals, allocutions, speeches, etc. There is a woeful lack of these texts on the internet, at least in the English language. For this reason, Novus Ordo Watch makes an effort to procure, translate, transcribe, or simply reproduce important hard-to-find magisterial documents for the benefit of all Catholics.

Further below you will find a list of the magisterial texts available on our web site. Immediately below, there is a short list of third-party web sites that feature an abundance of magisterial documents in Latin, English, or other languages:

For print books that contain magisterial documents, please see our book store.

“Plea to the Pope”:
VIP Lineup asks Francis to get his Act together

Well, at least it’s a serious effort they’re making, and not just a “click here to sign a petition” ad: “Bishop” Athanasius Schneider, “Fr.” Linus Clovis, and fourteen Novus Ordo life and family leaders from various countries have produced a 30-minute video in which they plead with their “Holy Father” to please stop attacking Catholicism and finally teach sound doctrine. The immediate trigger for this move was the release of Francis’ chaos exhortation Amoris Laetitia, which effectively permits unrepentant public fornicators and adulterers to receive the Novus Ordo version of Holy Communion:

The following clip is a four-minute summary, followed by the full-length video:

These clips were published by the pro-life web site Life Site News, which has also released an article to accompany the videos:

While it seems clear that these people are of good will, it must again be pointed out that it is sheer folly to recognize the manifest apostate Jorge Bergoglio as the Pope of the Catholic Church.

Bishop Fellay:

“We’ve never wanted to be separated from Rome”; “Vatican never called us Schismatic”; “Rome tacitly approves of our Ordinations”

As things deteriorate rapidly in the Vatican II Sect under Francis, the Society of St. Pius X is more eager than ever to obtain regularization and full recognition by Rome. On Tuesday, June 21, 2016, the SSPX Superior General, Bishop Bernard Fellay, gave an interview to Josef Bruckmoser of the Austrian paper Salzburger Nachrichten.

The one-page interview is now available online, and we have translated it from the original German into English (Bp.

Did Vatican II Teach Infallibly?
The Ordinary and Universal Magisterium

by John S. Daly

Second, Revised Edition

Vatican II in session

First printed in The Four Marks

Most traditional Catholics know that Vatican II taught heresies and other errors. They rightly refuse to accept this false teaching. But when asked how it can be right to reject the teaching of a General Council of the Catholic Church, they reply that Vatican II was a special kind of council; it was non-dogmatic and non-infallible. As such it could err, and did err, and Catholics may reject its errors without doubting the legitimacy of the authority that promulgated those errors.

On this page we present a slew of links to articles, blog posts, books, audios, and videos dealing with the subject matter of the Papacy, Sedevacantism, the false theological position known as “recognize-but-resist”, the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX), the Second Vatican Council, and the Novus Ordo Magisterium. We have tried as much as possible to group the links by topic. Due to the recent publication of the book True or False Pope? Refuting Sedevacantism and Other Modern Errors by John Salza and Robert Siscoe, there is a separate group of links relating just to that.

A DEVASTATING REALITY CHECK

You Can’t Have It “Your Way”:
A Response to Fr. Chazal’s Arguments against Sedevacantism in his Dec. 8 Letter to “Fr.” Paul Kramer

At the end of November 2013, the well-known traditionalist Novus Ordo priest Rev. Paul Kramer, editor of the popular book The Devil’s Final Battle, declared publicly that Francis could not possibly be the Pope of the Catholic Church and that the Holy See was vacant. As Kramer had hitherto been loosely affiliated with the Fatima Center, The Remnant, and Catholic Family News and had joined their well-known opposition to sedevacantism, this announcement came as quite a surprise to many.

Apostolic Letter of Pope Leo XIII

Est Sane Molestum (1888)

Apostolic Letter of His Holiness Pope Leo XIII, in which some journalists are warned about the submission and respect owed to bishops, who are the legitimate shepherds of the faithful

It is certainly sad and painful to treat with severity those whom We cherish as children, but to act in this way, whatever it may cost, is sometimes a duty for those who have to labor for the salvation of others and keep them in the way of holiness. A greater severity becomes necessary when there is reason to believe that the evil only increases with the passage of time and is working harm to souls.
